Native American spirituality, both traditionally and today, emphasizes gratitude for creation, care for the environment, and recognition of the human need for communion with nature and others.
As we pause today in deep gratitude, we also remember that this holiday isn't celebrated by all. Indigenous Peoples in America recognize Thanksgiving as a day of mourning. It is a time to remember ancestral history as well as a day to acknowledge and protest the racism and oppression that they continue to experience today.
If you do celebrate, here are a few ways you can acknowledge the history and honor Native American communities at Thanksgiving...
* Learn about the land you are on
* Support native farmers
* Cook a Native American recipe for your holiday meal (we love recipes from )
* Celebrate Native American designers and artists (check out , , & Emme Studio )
