What is Thsi Massage ??
Thai massage is a traditional healing system that combines acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures. It’s sometimes referred to as “Thai yoga massage” because the practitioner moves the recipient into various stretches and poses, similar to yoga, during the session.
Key Features of Thai Massage:
• Clothing: You remain fully clothed, typically in loose, comfortable clothing.
• No oils or lotions: Unlike many Western massages, it’s usually done without oil, on a padded mat on the floor.
• Stretching and movement: The therapist uses their hands, elbows, knees, and feet to apply pressure and move your body through stretches.
• Pressure points: Focus is often on energy lines (called “Sen” lines in Thai medicine), which are believed to correspond with different systems in the body.
• Dynamic and interactive: It’s more active than a typical Western massage — the therapist may lift, rock, or compress different parts of your body.
Benefits (as reported by recipients and some studies):
• Increased flexibility and range of motion
• Improved circulation
• Relief from muscle tension and joint stiffness
• Enhanced relaxation and reduced stress
• Boost in energy levels
Duration:
A typical session can last 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the provider and your needs.
Origin:
Thai massage has roots in ancient India and was influenced by Buddhist traditions, evolving over centuries in Thailand. It’s considered both a therapeutic and a spiritual practice in traditional Thai medicine
