Hi, I’m Sophia! I joined FLVAC in October 2024 because I’ve always had a passion for the medical field. My goal is to become an anesthesiologist nurse one day. Since joining, I’ve learned so much—everything from medication names to improving patient charting and communication. What I love most about FLVAC is the family-like atmosphere. I’ve grown close with so many amazing and supportive members. I’ve been driven from a young age—I started working on my associates degree when I was 15!

Hi! I’m Gurvinder, and I’ve been a member of FLVAC since May 2024.
I joined because I wanted to give back to the community in a hands-on, meaningful way. Fair Lawn is a wonderful town with great schools, and I was looking for a way to contribute. I used to drive past the “Volunteers Needed” sign at the ambulance headquarters almost every day—and eventually, I took it as a personal challenge. Since I’d always wanted to volunteer with the ambulance, it felt like the perfect opportunity. There’s a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment that comes from being one of the first responders on scene and being able to help when it matters most.

Volunteering here has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done. I really enjoy the camaraderie—everyone supports each other, and you truly feel like part of a second family. Plus, where else can you bond over midnight calls, caffeine, and working through the uniqueness of every call?

Hi, my name is Sasha, and I’ve been volunteering with the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps since February 2024. This fall, I will be attending college to study nursing, with the goal of becoming a Labor and Delivery Nurse Practitioner or a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
I initially joined FLVAC to get involved in the community and gain exposure to the medical field—but it quickly became so much more than that. Through my time here, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside incredible people, gain valuable hands-on experience, and discover how much I truly enjoy helping others.
Volunteering with FLVAC has been a rewarding and meaningful experience, and I’m grateful to be part of a team that makes a real difference in people’s lives.
