I'm going to try to get better, but if your team has a very disgusting name and you allowed me to take even more disgusting pictures, you're going to have to wait, because the first results I'm going to announce are from the game on April 20th when, despite coming up with Ford Fiesta when the correct anagram answer was Pontiac Trans Am, a Mother and Child Reunion bested the Sheenie-Hyde juggernaut.

I have the BEST trivia players at the VFW. This past Thursday was a comedy of errors for me and I was not only a half hour late, but also discovered that I had left the game on my printer! This week’s rivalry beween Liquid Therapy in Fair Oaks and VFW Post 8762 in West Sacramento tells me that these two venues are very evenly matched. Perhaps we can do an invitational game?

Trivia Results for Liquid Therapy January 25th

Have you ever had one of those days?

I’d been working in Oakdale on the 25th. It’s an hour and a half from Liquid Therapy, so when I finished my job at 4:30, I figured I was in good shape to get there in plenty of time for a 7 o’clock game, even if I stopped at a drive through for some food on the go. With traffic delays and detours in downtown Oakdale, I didn’t get out of there until 5:00. No problem, I thought. I’ll get there at 6:30. Then I confirmed with Google maps on how to get home and found out that there was a really bad accident on 99 and it gave me a route that avoided the freeway. Okay, even adding 20 minutes to my trip still got me to the bar at 6:50. At least it would have, if there hadn’t been an accident on the new route. I let the bartender know that I’d be 5 or 10 minutes late. I drove fast and was able to get there at about 7:03. THEN, I realized that, although I had my bag with the answer sheets, I forgot to get the actual game off the printer! Rather than go home, I pulled up an old game from a couple of years ago. Of course, that meant that some of the questions had to be replaced because they were out of date. So, as I came upon them I would quickly have to come up with a new question that was timelier. After getting through those bumps it was time for the music. Wouldn’t you know it – my speaker died, so I had to use a smaller speaker I keep in the car and go from table to table playing the music.

What a miserable night! I felt so bad that I sweetened the prize pot with $20. Later that night I thought about the people involved in the accidents that caused my delay and realized that I really didn’t have that bad a night, after all. But I’d still like to apologize to everyone for the delays and technical difficulties.
