I grew up across the street from the Village Sauna and just up the hill from the American River in Fair Oaks, California. In this community in the 1970’s the adults and kids harvested native plants as edibles and herbs for salves and tinctures. We had big gardens and a tiny pond, gentle horses, naughty goats and plenty of chickens. A warm clove of garlic in your ear or a swallow of Schwedenkräuter would likely cure your ails. Victoria Edwards was a massage therapist at the Sauna and lived in the big house on Harmony Hill, just on the other side of the garden gate. Her handmade massage blends of the 70's grew into Leydet Aromatics, a world-wide supplier of essential oils, aromatherapy materials, proprietary and custom blends. I began working for Leydet in 1995 and years of focused learning and growth followed. This broad apprenticeship was an education in being discerning about materials, using essential oils in skin care and therapeutically, and guidance in dowsing for essential oil selection when creating custom blends. When Victoria began a sabbatical in Southern France in 2004, there was a clear need to restructure the business. Out of this Emily's Oils & Essentials emerged, a company dedicated to continuing a 30 year legacy of providing high quality essential oils, custom blends and aromatherapy supplies to those customers that have been with us since the hand-made beginning and those newcomers just finding us as they begin their exploration in this wonderful and always expanding field of Aromatherapy.

Giving some product lines a new look. The Zodiac collection has been around for more than a decade and needed some attention. This label will be for the bath and body oils. The Zodiac perfumes have similar teeny tiny labels. I've got such a hard time imagining and envisioning and designing things. Emails back and forth with the designers... my descriptions and pictures of scraps of paper next to a ruler... I feel really inept.
They manage to pick out what I mean and come up with this! I'm so pleased.

This is SERIOUSLY good bread. If you are looking to replace a grocery store loaf of fluffy sliced sandwich bread, this isn't it. If you ARE looking to find a truly soured, long lasting loaf of bread that toasts well and holds up toasted or not to sweet or savory spreads or stacks, this might be it. Just had some this morning and ordered two more loaves.

I make this just for me, but I think about customers when I do.
I don't offer it for sale and don't know why.

So glad to see my kids thriving and doing things they love.

Thank you Sedona, we sold out of nearly everything!

We are so grateful that you so graciously received our offering of wholesome, true sourdough bread and sweets, the way our ancestors would have made them.

We are back in the kitchen to make more of our gluten free, sprouted, ancient grain deliciousness for the market in Cornville tomorrow at 2 pm.

Tomorrow is the special time of the Winter Solstice; it is a beautiful time where all of nature is retracted into its core, preparing for the next year of growth. It is time to nourish ourselves deeply and stoke the flame of love within.

We wish you all warm solstice blessings, and look forward to seeing more of you!

And for those of you who make your way out to the Cornville Farmer's Market, we'll see you there! And are grateful to get to share our love and nourishing sustenance with you on the Winter Solstice! ✨

Entrepreneurship runs in the family.
It's quite good. I could go on with an attempt at describing it, but won't. It's far more like the bread my Oma would have appreciated and ate than the fluffy and white breads that are EVERYWHERE now.

🍞🌟Ancient Grain Sourdough Bread! Made with sprouted quinoa, amaranth and buckwheat, and our all wild quinoa sourdough mother starter. ... For more info, read below about the ancient process each loaf goes through before it finds its way to your kitchen! 🌟 🍞

We are delighted to offer bread of the highest caliber! Made from ancient grains that we lovingly soaked and sprouted ourselves. Our "mother" also known as a sourdough starter has been bubbling with life for over 6 months now and is fed regularly from soaked organic quinoa and purified water. She has never been given commercial yeasts or additives of any kind. She is a wild, fermentation factory of sour, bubbly goodness and produces a bread filled with nutrients that only she can provide. It is known that yeast produce a variety of vitamins and amino acids such as B12 and other necessary compounds for human health. This particular culture has gone through thousands of generations and is now perfectly suited to her environment as a sprouted quinoa starter.

We soak and sprout all of our grains because it is important! Plants protect their continuity as species by filling their seeds with enzyme inhibitors and compounds that leech minerals from the organism that has eaten them in order for the seed to come out the other side ready to become a plant! Once they are sprouted, they are not only free of these compounds that inhibit proper absorption and interrupt digestive function; they are chemically altered, their life force activated and ready to become a vibrant plant, or vibrant, life-giving nutrients for a body.

This is a long and specific process that involves daily attention to our mother as well as our soaking grains as they transition into their awakened state. We soak all of our grains in purified water, then we rinse them in order to flush all the compounds described earlier away from the primed and ready grains. We then allow them to sprout before milling them all together with our sourdough mother and the highest quality organic ingredients. It is amazing to see the change from dry grain to living sprouts that wiggle and move in a wave as they are removed from their container. Their smell becomes green and fresh with life and they generate heat! I was amazed. They are indeed living and contribute to a bread that is filled with life, love, nutrients, and of course, flavor!

It takes a lot of work to produce a bread such as this. It is a labor love to provide the highest quality food for you! We look forward to feeding you and bringing forth more delicious and wholesome products infused with the ancient wisdom of the earth.

Better (and hotter) than I thought it would be.
