With great sadness, the Jane Goodall Institute confirmed this morning the passing of the organization’s founder, Dr. Jane Goodall, age 91 who died peacefully in her sleep while in Los Angeles, CA for her speaking tour in the United States.

Dr. Goodall’s life and work not only made an indelible mark on our understanding of chimpanzees and other species, but also of humankind and the environments we all share. She inspired curiosity, hope and compassion in countless people around the world, and paved the way for many others — particularly young people who gave her hope for the future.

In 1960 Dr. Goodall established the longest running wild chimpanzee study in Gombe National Park, Tanzania which continues to this day. She pioneered and sustained the Jane Goodall Institute’s community-centered conservation initiatives across the chimpanzee range for over four decades. Her legacy includes the creation of JGI’s international environmental and humanitarian youth program Roots & Shoots, which is actively driving change in 75 countries and counting around the world.

A group from the Neptune corporate office spent an afternoon volunteering with Feeding South Florida, and helped sort 9,542 pounds of food, which will provide more than 8,000 meals for those in need.
September is Month, to raise awareness about food insecurity and mobilize communities to take action against hunger in the United States. Organizations like Feeding South Florida coordinate efforts to educate the public, encourage donations and volunteerism, and advocate for policy changes to address the root causes of hunger and poverty. We're so honored to be part of this effort.

After 30 years, NSNC Sacramento has a new location in beautiful Fair Oaks, CA! We’re now at 5325 Sunrise Blvd., Fair Oaks, CA, 95628. The Services team celebrated with an open house and ribbon-cutting, and were joined by folks from the Fair Oaks Chamber Of Commerce.
Our wonderful Sacramento team carries to the new location their sense of pride and accomplishment in serving their community, and is ready to help if you and your family need us.

In 2024, NSNC Sacramento Service Manager Savannah Hall (far right in front row) was looking for ways to give back to the community, and joined the local Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team, bringing her expertise as an experienced mountaineer to the group. Her leadership skills and commitment to service were quickly recognized, and in 2025 she was appointed Assistant Team Leader, where she will oversee a unit of 40 volunteers and continue to make a meaningful impact aiding those in need.
We're so proud of Savannah, who makes a difference in families' lives every day, and in her community too.

Savannah Hall, service manager at NSNC Sacramento, was invited to join the Advisory Board of Sierra Donor Services. As a tissue recipient, Savannah has become a strong advocate for the gift of donation, and actively promotes the vital role that funeral homes have in providing families with a peaceful moment to say goodbye to their loved one after donation.

Trident Society San Jose Service Manager Steve Crawford (third from left) and partner organization Neptune Society of Northern California Service Manager Savannah Hall (fourth from left) attended the first 2025 meeting of the California Funeral Directors Association (CFDA). The group discussed planning the 2025 CFDA Convention, where Steve will be installed as president, and proposing changes to the electronic death registration system (EDRS) to streamline death certificate filing statewide.

Service Manager Savannah Hall and NSNC Sacramento have partnered with Kaminski Law Group to be the preferred cremation provider for their estate clients. Savannah also presents every quarter to Kaminski clients, answering questions on cremation and how funeral pre-planning is an important part of an estate plan.
