💔 Behind the Smiles…
"I hear from so many people on the brink of divorce or struggling with their mental health, the ones that post the sugary sweet couple messages, that they pretend all is fine. It makes me wonder what unrealistic picture of love and relationships our next generations are learning?"
~ Nancy Ryan, M.A., LMFT

🚧 How to Set Healthy Boundaries Without Guilt
Boundaries protect your time, energy, and emotional well-being — but setting them can feel uncomfortable or even selfish at first. Here are 5 steps to setting boundaries without the guilt:
🧭 1. Know Your Limits – Understand what feels right and what crosses the line.
💬 2. Communicate Clearly – Say what you need in a kind, direct way.
🚫 3. Don’t Over-Explain – You don’t owe anyone a lengthy justification.
🔁 4. Repeat When Necessary – Some boundaries need reinforcement.
🤝 5. Honor Your Own Boundaries First – Lead by example and give yourself the respect you ask of others.
💡 Healthy boundaries aren’t walls—they’re bridges to better relationships.
💬 Have you ever struggled with setting boundaries? You’re not alone. Therapy can help you practice and feel more confident.

Learning to Say "No" is Self-Care! 💬✨
Saying "no" can feel tough — but setting healthy boundaries is an important act of self-respect and care. 💖
Here are 10 ways to say no with kindness and confidence: ✅ "I can’t give you an answer right now, will you check back with me?" ✅ "No, I can’t do that, but here’s what I can do." ✅ "I really appreciate you asking me, but I can’t do it." ✅ "Under different circumstances, I’d love to, but right now I can’t." …and more!
🌱 Remember: You’re allowed to prioritize your needs without guilt.
💬 Practice these phrases when you need to protect your time, energy, and well-being!

What Can You Expect During Marriage Counseling? Couples often avoid marital therapy. Why? Because it can provoke anxiety. People usually think they can deal with whatever happens on their own. Including the third person won’t make it any better. That’s what they believe. So why confess to someone you even don’t know, right? Meet Olivia Wingate, AMFT, one of the therapists at The Relationship Therapy Center.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Human Development from the University of California, Davis because of my interest in the unique challenges and gifts found in each stage of life. Thereafter, I worked in a specialized memory care unit and various health care settings before attending a Gottman Method couples workshop that solidified my passion for working with clients to heal their relational, psychological, and emotional well-being. More recently, I have worked with children and adolescents in a school mental health setting and at a nonprofit seeking to provide quality therapy to underserved populations.
I draw from a variety of evidence-based practices that allow me to tailor therapy to a client’s unique needs. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
My areas of interest include Gottman Method couples therapy, premarital counseling, anxiety and depression related disorders, processing grief and loss, and working with adolescents and young adults in seasons of transition. I have received training in integrating spirituality into therapy if a client wishes.
