Today we launched our Small Engines class, and let us tell you… the energy in that room was electric.

There is something so powerful about watching young people step into something new with curiosity, grit, and excitement. These kiddos aren’t just learning about carburetors and crankshafts — they’re building confidence, patience, discipline, and real-life skills that matter.

Hands on. Minds engaged. Futures expanding.

We believe in creating spaces where our youth can discover what they’re capable of — and today was one of those moments where you could just feel it.

The pride. The focus. The spark.

This is more than a class. It’s opportunity. It’s growth. It’s belief in what they can become.

We are overjoyed to welcome Marcus Bobbitt as the new Chief Executive Officer of Family Centered Services of Alaska!

Marcus brings more than 15 years of executive leadership experience, but even more importantly, he brings a genuine heart for people and a deep respect for mission-driven work. In his most recent role as CEO of Alyeska Vascular Surgery and Alyeska Trauma, Marcus was known not only for clinical excellence and strong financial stewardship, but for leading with integrity, collaboration, and care.

At Family Centered Services, our work is rooted in unconditional care, connection, and walking alongside Alaska families through their most vulnerable seasons. We are confident that Marcus’s thoughtful leadership, strategic vision, and compassionate spirit will strengthen our programs and support the incredible staff who show up every day for the families we serve.

🍕 National Pizza Day at FCSA 🍕

Huge shoutout to our incredible kitchen staff at the RTC who absolutely crushed it for National Pizza Day! It was a two-person show, and they managed to crank out a significant amount of pizza to make sure staff across our FCSA programs were fed and appreciated.

So much gratitude for the hard work, teamwork, and (most importantly) the amazing pizza. Thank you for always showing up and taking care of our people — we couldn’t do it without you!

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Quin Barnard for coming to our RTC and hosting an incredible basketball clinic with our teens.

Not only did Quin give our kids the opportunity to build their skills on the court, but he also created a space where they felt safe, seen, and encouraged. His kindness and inspirational words left a lasting impression that will stay with them far beyond that moment.

The world truly needs more people like you, Quin. We are so grateful for your time, your heart, and the impact you made on our youth.

This is a little late, but as we moved through the busy holiday season, we wanted to make sure credit was given where it is so deeply deserved.

This past Christmas at the RTC was truly magical. From the Elf on the Shelf fun and creative moments with our kiddos, to the joy felt throughout the units, it was a day filled with laughter, warmth, and love. Sharing some of the greatest ones below!

A heartfelt thank you to our overnight staff who helped bring the Elf on the Shelf to life and supported our kids in creating those special memories. Thank you as well to the RTC staff who took time out of their own days to help wrap presents for all of our kiddos—your generosity of time and care helped make Christmas morning feel extra special.

A special shoutout to one of our leads who went above and beyond by dressing up as Santa Claus and delivering presents to all 26 kids on Christmas morning. What a moment of pure joy.

And as always, the biggest thank you goes to Somers Sothebys International Realty and all your incredible staff . This season can be especially hard for many of our kids, but because of you, Christmas was filled with goodness, kindness, and hope. Your impact on one of the hardest days of the year does not go unnoticed.

It may be a late post, but the gratitude is very real. Thank you all for the love, heart, and magic you bring to our program.

🎸 Instrument Donations Wanted for Our RTC Youth! 🎶

Our kiddos here at the RTC have an incredible love for music — especially guitar! Many of them find comfort, expression, and confidence through playing and creating music.

We’re reaching out to our community to see if anyone has instruments they’d be willing to donate to support our youth. Guitars, keyboards, or any gently used instruments would be greatly appreciated and go directly into the hands of kids eager to learn and play.

Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day!

Our hearts are full and spirits lifted after a beautiful day of celebration. We are so grateful to the visitors who joined our RTC program today to sing, dance, and share stories with our youth.

With most of our kiddos being Alaska Native, this experience was especially meaningful and deeply impactful.

A huge thank you to the volunteers who gave their time and talents — from storytelling to teaching traditional sewing skills. Your presence and guidance made this day truly unforgettable.

This year’s turnout was the best yet—20 teams, perfect weather, and nonstop fun from start to finish. We even had a three-way tie, with a winner decided by a coin toss!

Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA) is a nationally accredited nonprofit 501(c) (3) corporation founded in 1989 and managed by a nine member board of directors. The original founders of the organization were community members with a diverse range of professional backgrounds committed to helping children with a wide spectrum of mental health diagnosis. Today the organization provides individualized mental health and substance abuse treatment, and education services to children, young adults, and their families in the least restrictive setting possible.
