At The Flourishing Nest, we believe healing begins the moment a woman feels safe enough to slow down, listen inward, and receive.
We’re a sanctuary for women who have carried too much for too long—offering care for the nervous system, support for the soul, and coaching for the leader within.
Through family chiropractic, women’s health and leadership coaching, and trauma-informed healing, we help women reconnect with their bodies, reclaim their power, and rise into lives they truly love. This is your place to come home to you.
We offer a variety of packages and plans depending on your goals and needs. Typically we work with our clients in three month increments which can include a mix of chiropractic care, wellness & leadership coaching, and coherence training with HeartMath.

We also offer family wellness chiropractic care.

Our patients often report having more energy, less pain, more clarity on their purpose and direction in life, greater motivation, better relationships and more.

Did you know a stress response releases over 14,000 chemical processes in your body? And the effects stay around for at least 12 hours, often accumulating more and more each day?
They also zap our energy and leave us feeling depleted, overwhelmed and often unaware of what’s happening.
This begs the question I hear from a lot of my patients and clients…
How do I release the stress?
I put together a self-paced three day journey that will guide you through the basics of how to actually start releasing accumulated stress from your body and naturally bringing back your cellular energy…
In no more than 10 minutes per day.
There are a mix of short videos, hand outs and simple exercises that do not require a lot of time to start implementing, just consistency.
The link to register is in our bio.
While you won’t heal years of chronic stress and hidden traumas in three days, you WILL notice a difference within three days, guaranteed 😉

Our society is obsessed with two things–1) being busy and 2) quick fixes to our health to keep us being busy.

In 2018 I hit rock bottom after pushing through both of these things building my first practice in Fairbanks–Life Sprout. When I got remarried and had a moment to pick my head up and look around, I realized I was falling apart. My wrist was torn in six places. I’d put on 40 pounds of stress weight. My body had been stressed so long it felt broken and like my willpower was lost in outer space somewhere. And I’d completely lost sight of my purpose and joy in life.

I spent 6 years piecing together how to heal and developed the process and mix of modalities I now offer at The Flourishing Nest. The biggest thing I stand for is that our inner world is the key to really healing. You can take all the supplements, eat well, exercise regularly, sleep, get adjusted etc, but if you’re disconnected from your inner world, none of that will matter.

We have to learn how to come home to ourselves. We have to learn how to make the time to reconnect to ourselves (it’s easier than you think). We have to learn how to be kind in how we talk to ourselves.

It’s not just about finding motivation to push yourself harder or find more hours in your day. It’s about reconnecting with yourself, your why and gaining new perspective on what you need to heal.

These are all the things we discuss on the Live and Lead with Heart Podcast and the Getting to The Heart of It Substack. Follow us on both to start this journey for yourself. The links are in our bio.

Hi Friends, I’m Dr. Alex, the Founder of the Flourishing Nest. I am a family focused chiropractor who has served Fairbanks since 2012. I am also a board certified Women’s Wellness & Leadership coach, and Trauma Sensitive HeartMath Practitioner.

I am a woman with way too many letters after my name whose purpose in the world is to help others heal. I’ve spent a lot of time on my own healing finding the place where our emotional and physical worlds collide and give us access to truly healing at a root level.

I founded The Flourishing Nest for other women to have a safe space to heal. Too many of us stay stuck in the loop of putting everyone and everything else before ourselves–and our health suffers for it. One day we wake up and no longer recognize ourselves in the mirror. I’ve met far too many women, and been one myself, who are disconnected from themselves and don’t quite know how to find their way back. The Flourishing Nest is the place where you heal from long term stress, and come home to yourself .

Curious what that might mean for you? Jump on a free 15 minute, no strings attached discovery call with Dr. Alex. The link is in our bio 💞

Sometimes the injuries holding us back from feeling like ourselves again aren’t the ones we can see.

Since I’ve been recovering from burnout, the only exercise I’ve been able to tolerate consistently without major setbacks physically is walking.

It’s something I do daily. Rain, snow or shine.

It’s also something I’ve have to come to terms with as an overachieving athlete to not fall into old habits of pushing myself too hard and before my body has healed its cortisol levels to be able to do so.

I’ve had a few learning curves with this in learning how to be gentle with myself in moving my body.

Whats an area you have a tendency to push yourself too hard most of the time?

Ever gotten on an amusement park ride and wished you could have tested before you committed?

Yesterday we spent the day at Universal Studios celebrating Fritz’s 11th birthday…

Somewhere in the last year or two he has become a little daredevil who’s favorite rides are the ones that make me close my eyes tight, try desperately to keep from vomiting and start praying it will be over as quickly as possible.

I’ll go on them with him, but kind of like childbirth, I need a lot of time and distance to think I might want to repeat the experience. Ever again.

Yesterday had me reflecting on how deeply I’d like to be able to have a short less than 10 second experience that demonstrated what the experience of the ride would really be like–because let’s be honest, the sign descriptions and warnings aren’t always the greatest indicator–so I could be really sure I wanted to spend part of my life having said experience.

Does that ruin the fun? Not if some of those experiences are just not fun for me!

In the many rabbit trails my mind goes down, I had the realization that this is something that has been missing in a lot of what I do the past few years.

Before you decide to jump into working with someone in a coaching or personal growth capacity, there’s a lot of talking about what it is, big promises, and maybe some vague specifics…but you never really get to EXPERIENCE what it would be like to work with the person.

I believe that a truly transparent sales process should let you try the thing on before you buy, kind of like clothes or cars.

So I decided to make that a thing at Emergent Humans.

Last week I announced the new container that I'm launching next week, The Shift. It’s all about learning to get out of your head and connected to your heart.

And instead of just reading a sales page or some testimonials, listening to a boring webinar or jumping on a phone call that may or may not be accompanied by wariness of when the pitch is coming, I’d like to invite you to an introductory experience that will allow you to experience what The Shift might be like for YOU this Friday, May 31st at 1 PM PST/4 PM EST…without any of that.

The best part? You don't even have to register. Follow the link in my bio to add it to your own calendar and join me in Google Meet on Friday.

It's going to be epic in a way that makes you feel safe, secure and totally empowered in understanding what learning to get out of your head and connected to your heart could mean for you and your life...by actually experiencing what that's looks like BEFORE you commit to anything 💞

75 (NOT) HARD

A few years ago I started seeing posts from friends who took on the 75 HARD challenge.

A commitment to work out 2x a day, once outside, drink a certain amount of water, read everyday and a few other things. If you mess up, you start over from day 1.

Old pre-burnout me loved the idea of this kind of challenge and push that forced you to explore the limits of your mental and physical fortitude.

New post-burnout me who experienced the physical and emotional pain of taking that type of challenge way too freaking far, has a different approach to life.

New me just completed 75 days of intentionally loving myself each day and practicing feeling things like appreciation, compassion and love on a daily basis.

75 days of learning to move my nervous system, brain and heart into a place of being in sync—also known as coherence.

I wanted to share a few of the things that have come out of this journey so far. One that isn’t even close to being over 😊

☀️I have far more energy and am more active than I’ve been in years because I feel good.

☀️ My night time heart rate variability (a measure of how healthy you really are and how long you’ll live) doubled.

☀️ My resting heart rate lowered to below 60.

☀️ I no longer have PMS issues or menstrual migraines—a sign my progesterone has increased due to my body resetting its stress baseline.

☀️ I’ve gained a lot of clarity and direction in business and life that’s due to being more connected with my intuition.

☀️ I laugh more, sleep better and am much more aware of my emotions.

Do I still have stress? Of course. Is life still busy? Definitely. Is it possible for a few minutes of interrupting that cycle a day to make a huge difference in your physical and mental wellbeing? Abso-freaking-lutely.

Ready to break the go-go-go cycle we’ve adapted as life in the modern world and give your body a chance to reset without having to push and punish yourself to do it?

This is part of the core foundation I teach at Emergent Humans where we focus on learning to get out of your head and connected to your heart.

Reach out to me if your curiosity is peaked and I’ll get you more information.

This information comes with zero pressure, zero opt-ins, and zero invitations to “jump on a call” (unless that’s something YOU request).

I believe everyone deserves to be happy and fulfilled in their personal and professional lives. And the journey to get there starts with the shift out of your head and into your heart ❤️

Do you struggle with the dark side of being a high achiever? The side that says it's not enough, there's always more?

Today I'm sharing my first post of my new blog, The Heart of It. This space is dedicated to helping you to cut through the noise of your head and connect to what's in your heart.

Today's exploration is a deep dive into the dark side of being a high achiever, and how to breakthrough by shedding emotional vanities to get to the core of who you really are and what's important to you.

I share my own learnings from completing my first (and only) full marathon in 2009. Something I couldn't accept as achievement on it's own...why not also train to qualify for Boston? 🤔 Sound familiar?

The link to the post is in the comments. As a note, I'm still in the process of updating the rest of my site with a recent rebrand.

A peak at what “healing stress” can look like.

I’ve been wearing an Oura ring since the end of 2021.

While doing so I’ve learned that my resting heart rate rarely dropped below 60, regardless of my “healthy habits” and my heart rate variability—a solid indicator of how well your body responds to and recovers from stress…and also of of overall wellness and longevity—hovered in the 20’s and 30’s.

In other words…it’s been abysmal for a long time!

Enter doing another HeartMath certification last month and getting serious about my own coherence practice this month…

Today I saw the lowest resting heart rate and highest HRV I have in years 😲

And that HRV is on par with where research says it’s supposed to be at my age to truly be healthy.

What is this coherence thing you ask?

My simplest explanation is it’s what happens when you learn to get out of your head and allow your heart and brain to sync up for a few minutes.

In the science world coherence stops lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) and increases DHEA (the precursor to all your s*x hormones).

Do it consistently and cool stuff happens because you’re finally actually managing your stress 😎

No exercise or supplements required. Can be practiced anywhere.

Side effects include better sleep, more energy, clearer thinking, easier decision making, melting inches and more.
