One year ago today I was sitting in my naturopath’s office staring down the barrel of a loaded gun. My body was a metabolic sh*t storm.

A1C of 6.5 - Full-blown Type II diabetic.
Total cholesterol at 254. LDL at 179.
Body fat over 40%.
Waist nearly 42 inches.
Inflammatory markers off the charts.

I was a heart attack waiting to happen.

Today — just days before I turn 60 — I’m sharing what one year on Tirzepatide actually did to my metabolic health markers. Not just the weight. THE HEALTH.

Because here’s what nobody tells you: you don’t have to accept feeling like s**t as a normal part of getting older. I’m healthier now than I was at 40.

And I competed in Strongman, twice during my journey.

Nobody told me I could build som**hing without burning everything down first.

I spent a long time thinking that wanting more meant I had to blow up what I already had.

Quit the job. Pivot hard. Go all in or don’t go at all. That’s not what happened. What actually happened was quieter than that.

I started building in the pockets of time nobody else wanted.

The 20 minutes before my day started. The lunch break I used to scroll through. The hour after everything was done and I was too tired to do anything meaningful anyway.

I didn’t quit anything. I didn’t risk anything. I just stopped wasting the small moments and started stacking them into som**hing real.

18 months later I have a Jeep bonus that hits every month, a wellness business that runs while I’m living my life, and a travel business I’m leaning into hard because I finally have somewhere I actually want to go.

None of it required a dramatic leap.

Just a decision. And then another one. And then another one after that.

Here’s what I’ve learned about the people who actually build som**hing:

→ They don’t wait for the perfect moment
→ They don’t wait until the kids are older or the job settles down
→ They find 20 minutes and they start there
→ They stack small yeses until the thing is undeniable

You don’t have to blow up your life to build a different one. You just have to stop pretending the pockets of time don’t exist.

HOW I GET 100g OF PROTEIN WHEN I DON’T WANT TO EAT

Whether you are on one of the “shots” or not, getting 100g of protein for GenX women especially is super important. The article has some great information and you’ll find it linked in the first comment.

In the last few weeks I’ve joined a couple GLP-1 Facebook groups and one of the most common questions I kept seeing is “how can I get 100g of protein when I don’t want to eat”. I know how they feel, I felt the same way in the beginning!

What I found is I had to change my mentality of “I HAVE TO CHEW MY FOOD” to I NEED to get in my protein so I don’t lose a s**t ton of muscle which will crash my metabolism. I mean I was already a metabolic mess in the first photo.

I was sharing the same information so much that I started by saving the info to my notes app so I could copy and paste. But I feel it’s such good information I decided to write a blog post about it.

You know what ticks me off more than 20-som**hing influencer “Tiffany” telling women my age that we are “taking the easy way out” by using G L P 1️⃣’s???

“David”, the MALE fitness influencer telling a menopausal woman that if she would just be in a calorie deficit, she’d lose the weight AND if she uses previously mentioned medication she is guaranteed to crash her metabolism by losing half her muscle. (Did you know David is the male version of the “Karen”).

Listen dude, until you’ve had hot flashes that make a Texas summer feel cool, night sweats that could wake the dead, and hormones more whacked out than a m**h head looking for its next fix, you need to sit down.

While I agree if all you do is take the 💉, starve yourself and drop a ton of weight fast, you WILL crash your metabolism.

But here’s the thing…if you DON’T take the 💉, starve yourself and lose a ton of weight fast, guess what happens? You crash your metabolism.

I mean I get it, the dude is just trying to sell his online coaching, but he doesn’t have to be a dick about it. But I really dislike it when someone who has never been through what we go through, patronize and shame those that use a tool in the toolbox.

And of us who have had our bodies put through the hormonal s**t storm that is menopause and it’s ugly stepsisters peri and post, take a backseat.

And one last thing, I guess it’s called MEN-opause…because David needs to pause before opening his yap next time.
