Please take a moment to review this release from the American Psychiatric Association. Bold and unsubstantiated claims can have far-reaching consequences—some lead to direct harm, while others divert attention and resources away from interventions that are evidence-based and demonstrated to be truly beneficial.

It truly takes a village to keep science at the forefront. As part of our response to this evolving situation, ASAT is currently preparing an article titled Leucovorin: Is There Science Behind That? We look forward to sharing it with you soon and will post the link in this thread once it's available.

The Cherokee Nation’s Children’s Clothing Assistance Program application is now open.

To help parents with back-to-school shopping, a one-time payment of $150 through the annual Children’s Clothing Assistance Program is open to income-eligible Cherokee citizens under the age of 19. There are no residency restrictions for this year’s application eligibility.

Cherokee Nation Human Services is now accepting applications through the tribe’s online Gadugi Portal at https://gadugiportal.cherokee.org. The deadline for the application is Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 5 p.m.

(Please note for applicants aged 18 who experience difficulty or receive an error message, Cherokee Nation IT is working to have this resolved in the coming days. For those qualifying Cherokee Nation citizens living outside the United States an application will open separately on the Gadugi Portal at a later date, and more information will be shared about that application soon, so stay tuned to the Cherokee Nation page and Gadugi Portal for more updates.)

To qualify, applicants must be a Cherokee Nation citizen as of June 24, 2025, and must be under the age of 19 years old. Household income must not exceed 150% of the federal poverty income guidelines for household size (see graphic below).

We hope this program helps our Cherokee Nation families with children and their back-to-school shopping needs.

Our Story

Step-In Autism Services was founded in 2010 to provide quality Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children and adults. At that time, ABA was not available and the remote location of Fairbanks, Alaska had minimal supports for individuals with Autism or other behavioral needs. Since then Step-In Autism Services has partnered with families, community members, and other service providers “stepping in” to maximize independence. The Step-In team of therapists offers the highest level of services to bring meaningful and positive change to children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder or who have other behavioral needs. Supervision for BCBA candidates is available upon request.

Providers at Step-In Autism Services understand the importance of intensive intervention for individuals diagnosed with Autism or other developmental delays. We have seen firsthand the impact that Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) creates in the lives of the individual, siblings, and family members. This is why we pride ourselves on quality ABA services.

Center-based Services

Step-In utilizes a relatively novel approach to ABA. Our Center is set up, not like a clinic, but as a natural setting. One of our founders, Linda Robertson, coined the term ‘family-style ABA’ to describe the services provided at the Step-In Center. With an open layout, all of the clients engage with each other and all of the staff. Siblings and peers are often on-site to provide more social opportunities for clients.
