This week’s question: Can dense breasts affect your mammogram?

Yes. Dense breast tissue appears white on a mammogram — and so does breast cancer, which can make it harder to detect.

That’s why at BCDC, we’re excited to offer ABUS (Automated Breast Ultrasound) — an additional screening tool designed specifically for women with dense breasts. 💗

Today’s question: Are mammograms covered by insurance?

In many cases, yes! Most insurance plans are required to cover screening mammograms for women starting at age 40 as preventive care, often with no copay or deductible when you go to an in-network provider.
