⭐️Call for Auction Items!⭐️

Join us in supporting the Greater Fairbanks Community Hospital Foundation’s Behavioral Health Fund at the Together Casting a Light Gala on March 23, 2024, presented by Kinross Fort Knox. We're addressing the urgent need for the expansion of Fairbanks Memorial Hospital’s inpatient behavioral health unit.

Committed to enhancing community well-being, we invite you to contribute by donating auction items. Think beyond the ordinary – perhaps that piece of art you've been meaning to find a new home for, a unique experience, a bottle of wine for our wine pull, or even a regift from the holiday season.

To donate or discuss potential items, please contact us at (907) 458-5550. Every contribution, regardless of size, brings us closer to our goal.

"This is not an experience you want for anyone you love"

Amanda and the nursing staff at my hospital, Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, are now 1 1/2 years into helping COVID-19 patients improve and go home or die in hospital. They are amazing and caring people.

Due to increased demand there is a national shortage of monoclonal antibodies (MAB). Because of this, the Federal government changed its distribution process; MAB is now distributed to states based on population. Once received by the state Division of Health and Social Services, it’s allocated similar to how the vaccine was initially allocated.

Monoclonal antibody treatment is important because, if administered early enough, it can keep those who are infected with COVID from becoming critically ill or dying. The antibodies counteract the coronavirus before it can begin destroying the body’s organs.

Until ample supplies are received, this potentially lifesaving treatment is temporarily restricted. Foundation Health Partners will be following the National Institute of Health’s criteria for prioritization of MAB treatment. To be eligible, while supplies last, treatment is available only for those:
• Unvaccinated individuals with any high risk condition including elevated BMI etc.
• Vaccinated individuals with immunocompromising condition or over the age of 65

For more information about this treatment, contact your primary care physician or visit TVC’s 1st Care Center.

There have been a lot of comments and questions about the bed capacity here at FMH.

We are licensed for 152 beds. 152 is counting ALL beds – every OR bed, every ED gurney, every procedures treatment room – so it isn’t an accurate representation of our inpatient space availability.

At optimal staffing levels, we staff for an inpatient census of 80-90, which would be what a high census looks like for us. However, like most other health facilities in the country, FMH is not at optimal staffing levels right now. We are currently short staffed in most departments.

So, being at suboptimal staffing levels, even with a census only in the high 70s, caring for the intensive needs of COVID-19 patients is more than challenging.

A new study from CDC’s COVID-NET shows that unvaccinated people are 17x more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 than people who are fully vaccinated. Get vaccinated to protect yourself.

Sometimes a picture tells the story better!
Now that the has been fully authorized by the FDA for ages 16+, we’re hopeful that more people will make the choice to get vaccinated to protect themselves and others from severe illness, hospitalization and possibly death.
Find a vaccination clinic near you today at anchoragecovidvaccine.org. Or check with your local pharmacy.
