April is Occupational Therapy (OT) Month and we are here to celebrate the best OT’s in all the land! 👏👏👏Thank you to Kristin, Keri, Ellen, and Claire for their contributions to supporting our community! Join us in thanking an OT!

Many people aren’t sure what OT’s do. Pediatric occupational therapy (OT) helps children from infancy through young adulthood develop essential fine motor, gross motor, and sensory processing skills needed for daily living, school, and play. Therapists use child-led, play-based techniques to improve independence in self-care, handwriting, emotional regulation, and social. They also have a strong background in early childhood feeding which is an area not discussed as much but is incredibly important to a child’s development.

Our board member Sam is an advocate for our community and committed to supporting those who need it. We are so thankful for her service to ACCA for nearly 50 years and love seeing her highlight in the community! AND we are certain she enjoyed her açaí bowl at The Zen Turtle!🐢

This week we were able to present a check to the Interior Alaska Center For Non-Violent Living!
For the month of March, we had committed to donate 10% of Thursday’s sales to this non-profit that is an invaluable asset to our community.

The amazing Sam Bush, who has worked there for many years, came by to pick up the check and also enjoyed her very first Acai bowl! 🥰🏝️
Can you believe she is almost 90 years old?! 🤯👏
This wonderful woman is a fierce advocate, mentor and encouragement to so many. Truly an inspiration…we love you Sam!!💗

April is Autism Awareness and Acceptance month. Join us in recognizing and celebrating

On World Autism Day (and each day), we recognize that every Autistic person is their own kind of amazing.

Some of us love patterns. Some of us love sounds. Some of us love quiet spaces, big ideas, or noticing details others might miss.

Some, like Carl's friend Lotta, see colors when they hear music. And some, like Carl, are sensory seekers who love strong smells.

There isn’t just one way to be Autistic. There are all kinds of kinds.

That’s something we celebrate every day at the Autism Society of America, and it’s something we love about Carl, Lotta, and their friends in Fuzzytown, too.

We were selected this year to participate in Light the World Giving Machine North Pole and our community showed up! This support goes directly to our clients and families and makes a huge impact for them.

We are so incredibly thankful for our community and for the volunteers and organizers who made this happen for a second year in our community! What an amazing gift to these amazing non-profits and those they serve.
