Teslow completed his undergraduate and medical studies at Sanford University of South Dakota. He served as Chief Resident and completed his surgical residency, while at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr. Teslow has 11 years of experience in Occupational and Aerospace Medicine, as a Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force, as a Flight Surgeon. He has a busy clinical surgical practice, and assists as a Medical Director for Steese Immediate Care. He is a Clinical Associate Professor with the University of Washington, Department of Surgery and Surgical Site Program Director. He also participates with the University Of Washington Physician Assistant program. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery. As a long term resident of Fairbanks Dr. Teslow knows the importance of having experienced, highly qualified physicians and staff to treat patients as unique individuals, each with his or her own health needs.

A colonoscopy allows the doctor to examine the lining of your large intestine for abnormalities, including colon cancer, by inserting a thin flexible tube, as thick as your finger, and slowly advancing it through the re**um and colon. This instrument, called a colonoscope, has its own lens, biopsy channel and light source and it allows your doctor to view images on a video monitor.

Colonoscopy is a recommended screening test for colorectal cancer.

Some experts feel they may make a hernia worse. Talk to your doctor before you decide to try a hernia truss, which should only be used as a temporary measure, if at all.
