There is a misconception that burnout means something is breaking down.

Burnout can show up when you’re not depleted, but when a part of you has quietly evolved beyond the identity, expectations, or role you’re still performing.

It’s the moment your system stops cooperating with how you were—because it’s preparing you for who you’re becoming.

That’s why some people feel burnout not at their lowest moments, but right at the edge of growth—when they are successful, capable, and deeply aware that the way they’re working…no longer reflects who they are.

This is not depletion.

Most people try to solve burnout by restoring energy—more rest, better scheduling, improved self-care.

“How do I get my energy back?”

“Where am I still giving energy to something that is already complete?”
