Awesome new tool alert!!

Infrared reading of your horse’s body before and after treatment can help identify inflammation (we look at all four legs for consistency in coloration/heat dispersement which you can see in his leg photo-they look similar and healthy) and also demonstrates increased blood flow to critical areas.

Notice how Citation’s back from the side angle and top warmed up significantly after his session. The blue/purple areas that were cool changed to green and yellow with just a 30 minute session. Thanks for being such a good boy Ci!

Horses, like people- respond uniquely to pressure. Influenced by inherited tendencies, environmental factors, and handler expectations. Their reactions to stimulation are often an echo, and neither good nor bad. All communication is valuable information, and my job is to remain sensitive to what they have to say.

A horse turning inward appears calm and accepting. His stoicism betrayed only by glassy round eyes- windows to his soul. This horse peers silently from behind armor, braced against whatever comes next. We don’t take advantage of the stillness. Instead, we invite him back into his body by softening in his presence.

Other horses step, stomp, or shuffle in place. Not leaving the session but rather showing concerns with transparency. At first Larry showed discomfort like this. And as someone also very resistant to anything and anyone new-I could appreciate his honesty.

His fantastic mom, Margaret, brainstormed with me about taking a different approach. We took a break before starting again in a space more comfortable for him. I demonstrated the machine on Margaret while Larry watched, and when approaching him again I started with scratching his withers (his favorite spot) and a solid commitment to remove any tubes or pressure at the first indication of concern- which he really didn’t show the second time around.

In the end, Larry responded to our considerations beautifully, his trust granted and deeply appreciated. Reminding me that we must always get to know horses as individuals, listening to what they say from the moment we step into their space, and respond appropriately.
