Good morning! ☀️

Where are you located in the world? I’m in Northern Virginia!

Take a moment to share where you’re from and use this as an opportunity to connect with others in our community. It’s always wonderful to see how far and wide our group reaches. 💛

In light of celebrating Women’s Day, I wanted to share a special moment with all of you. Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting another woman from our group over a Messenger video call. We could have talked all morning—there are so many things we have in common!

After our conversation, I felt a deep sense of relief. Every time I connect with someone in our group, there’s this profound understanding—a sense that someone truly gets what I’m going through. I’m so grateful for the time I spent with her, and she even encouraged me to start our support groups again.

On this Women’s Day, I hope we can continue building these connections so that everyone in our community can experience that same sense of understanding and support. It makes such a difference to have someone who really “gets it.”

And to my new friend I met yesterday—thank you. You truly brightened my day.🤍

Every day is an opportunity to cheer on the women around you. Every day you can choose community over competition.
Because the truth is, everyone is out there doing their best. She too has a dream and a passion, and a little self-doubt. You are not in competition with each other. When you celebrate her, encourage her, and cheer her on, you raise her up. We are all more similar than we realise and when we can bring our dreams, our hopes, our support, and our passions together, amazing things will happen. So share more love with the women around you today, show more love to yourself. Let's create a world where building others up is what we do, because it is both powerful and beautiful. 🤍

Good morning, 🌅

I received this email from the Community Engagement Officer at Research Grid’s Inclusive Network. THIS IS WHY ADVOCACY IS SO IMPORTANT!!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Hi Women’s International Hemiplegic Migraine Group,
I'm circling back as Rare Disease Day is approaching on 28th February, and I thought it would be a good time to reconnect about collaboration opportunities.

I'm A***n, Community Engagement Officer at Research Grid's Inclusive Network.

Inclusive brings together thousands of communities, participants, and researchers globally across 2,000+ conditions and therapeutic areas, making it easier to participate in and engage with health research.

I'd love to discuss two free collaboration initiatives that showcase your organization's work. Many groups use these opportunities to increase visibility and support future commercial opportunities for their charities and communities.

If helpful, I'd be happy to give a brief overview and discuss how Inclusive could be a useful resource for your team. Are you available for a short chat in the coming weeks?

Great information! I love how Liana described treatment for HM as a “treatment pie.” 🥧 It’s such a powerful visual reminder that managing Hemiplegic Migraine isn’t about one magic solution — it’s about multiple pieces working together.

Hydration.
Meditation.
Therapy.
Medication.
Diet.
Movement.
Supplements.
Sleep.

Each one is a slice. On their own, they help — but combined, they give us a much greater chance at stability and improvement.

There is no single modality that treats Hemiplegic Migraine. It’s a layered, holistic approach — and it looks different for each of us.

I’ll be sharing more about this in my upcoming eBook, Navigating Hemiplegic Migraine, where I walk through how to build your own “treatment pie” in a practical, realistic way. I truly hope it will be a helpful resource for our community. 💛

💙 Fatigue & Hemiplegic Migraine 💙

Feeling unusually tired with Hemiplegic Migraine? Fatigue isn’t just “part of migraines.” Blood work can help identify underlying causes.

Ask your doctor to check:
• CBC (anemia)
• Iron & Ferritin
• Vitamin B12 & D
• Thyroid (TSH, T3, T4)
• Magnesium
• Inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR)

💡 Keeping a symptom log helps your doctor see patterns and triggers.

🍃Honoring My Body, Honoring My Path🍃

I recently made the decision to step away from a training I was attending. My body needed me to slow down, and I honored that.

Living with Hemiplegic Migraine and autoimmune conditions means listening carefully to what my body can and cannot handle. Setting boundaries isn’t always easy, but it’s necessary for survival.

This page is now a calm space for women with HM — a place to share resources, support, and guidance, while honoring our mind, body, and spirit.

If you’re navigating chronic illness, remember: slowing down and protecting your energy is a strength, not a weakness. 🌿🕊

Good morning, friends 🤍

I want to share something I did yesterday in hopes it encourages you.

I started training to become a Peer Recovery Specialist. My hope is that this will allow me to support others on their chronic pain journey — adding to my lived experience and the years of learning I’ve already walked through.

When I introduced myself, I shared openly about the brain fog I experience. I also struggle with pronouncing words at times. And yesterday? It showed up. One word took me three tries — and I still couldn’t get it out. The class is very interactive, so there wasn’t anywhere to hide. My peers were patient. They waited. I moved on.

It was hard. I wanted to sound more confident. More polished.

But I showed up anyway. And I’m proud of myself for that.

“Be a lamp unto yourself.”
— Gautama Buddha

We have to be our own light sometimes. We have to trust that what we bring to the table — even with brain fog, even with word-finding struggles — is still valuable.

We all have strengths. So many.

If you’ve had a win recently, big or small, please share it. I’d truly love to celebrate with you ❤️
