Fall Prevention Tips
Falls are the number one reason or cause of injuries in seniors. From slippery floors, loose cords around the house, clutter passages, and much more. Here are a few safety measures:
1. Clean up clutter. Keeping the environment clean, organized, and pathway clear from clutter helps prevent falls and injuries.
2. Spills: This is the #1 cause of most falls and Injuries. Immediately drying up the floor when spills are noted is very important, to prevent our seniors from falls and injuries.
3. Installing grab bars and handrails. Seniors tend to have a hard time moving around and maintaining balance as they walk or move. These bars can serve as a point of support when they feel tired or can't support their weight, hence preventing falls.
4. Non slip shoes/stockings will help prevent Seniors from falling from slippery floors
5. Getting a caregiver: It is very natural that as we all age , our ability to do the things we used to do diminishes and the risk for fall and injuries increases.
