Pitching Through It: Harper’s Story 🥎✨
Who says a brace has to sit out the photo session? For her 12th birthday, Harper decided to celebrate exactly who she is—a dedicated athlete and a proud scoliosis warrior.

Harper is a powerhouse on the softball mound. As a long-time pitcher, she hasn’t let her diagnosis change her game. She continues to do what she loves, wearing her brace diligently whenever she’s off the field to ensure she stays strong and healthy for every inning.

Behind every great athlete is a great support system, and Harper’s mom and dad are her biggest fans, cheering her on through every curve (literally!).

We are so inspired by your confidence and your "can-do" spirit, Harper. Keep throwing heat! 🔥

Monday Momentum in the Fairfax Lab! 🛠️✨

While many are just sipping their first cup of coffee, our Fairfax office is already buzzing. Mondays are high-energy days dedicated to the art and science of the Rigo Cheneau brace.

Today, we’re catching two of our orthotists, Kristian Christensen and Cara Pinker, hard at work. They are currently prepping patient molds—a crucial step in ensuring every custom brace we create provides the precise, three-dimensional correction our patients need.

It’s not just about the plastic and straps; it’s about the hours of meticulous lab work that happen behind the scenes to ensure the perfect fit.

We’re proud of the hands-on expertise our team brings to every single mold. Let’s hear it for Kristian and Cara for their dedication to our scoliosis warriors! 💪💙

The Results:
Lower Curve: Reduced from 24° to 3°
Upper Curve: Reduced from 10° to 7°

Seeing that lower curve nearly neutralize in-brace is exactly why we do what we do. Our goal is always to provide the best possible correction while allowing our patients to keep living their lives to the fullest.

Way to go, Clara (12 years old)! And a huge shoutout to her orthotist, Hope Amador, for her precision and expertise in fitting.

💪 Treatment: Custom Rigo Cheneau Bracing
✨ Goal: Non-surgical scoliosis results

There is a specific science to transforming a 3D scan into a physical tool for correction. It requires speed, precision, and a deep understanding of every curve.

Watch as our orthotist assistants, Heather and Katie, pull a custom Rigo Cheneau brace in our on-site lab—designed for 3D correction without sacrificing movement. From the first scan to the final fit, every step happens right here under our roof. 🛠️

We craft the brace so our patients can craft their future.

It’s all smiles for Ben as he returns for his second custom Rigo Cheneau brace! 😁

At just 8 years old, Ben is a rockstar of compliance. When he started this journey, his curve was at 26 degrees. Today, due to his dedication to wearing his brace (monitored by his favorite gadget, the iButton), and our growth-guided correction approach using a custom Rigo Cheneau brace, his curve is down to 16 degrees! 🎉

Ben's incredible journey proves that with the right treatment plan and a lot of heart, anything is possible. He even got to help design his new brace – which might be why he’s so motivated!

Ben's mom shared that they initially thought this process would be scary and said a lot of prayers. We are so happy to hear that it has turned out to be anything but scary.

As you can see on the whiteboard behind him, Ben manages a few different medical conditions. But those are just details; they don't stop Ben. His determination, positive attitude, and bright spirit are what really shine through.

We are so proud of you, Ben! Keep being the amazing superhero you are! 💪🌟

10-Year-Old Raegan: Living Life Unfiltered 🥎🏀
Meet Raegan! When she was 8, her grandmother (a fellow scoliosis warrior) noticed a curve in her back. Today, Raegan is a total pro, wearing her brace 18–20 hours a day without missing a beat.

"Bracing has not held me back at all," says Raegan. "I’m still able to play softball, basketball, and swim!"

Raegan is proof that a scoliosis diagnosis doesn't mean sitting on the sidelines. We are so proud of your dedication, Raegan! 💚

Does your child have a family history of scoliosis? Early detection makes all the difference. Visit the link in our bio to learn more.

Balancing school, lacrosse, and cheerleading is hard enough—adding a scoliosis brace to the mix takes a special kind of discipline. 🎀🥍

Many student-athletes struggle to stay consistent with their brace wear, but Sarah, this 14-year-old powerhouse, is proving it’s possible. After one year, her X-rays show the results of her hard work.

With a family history of scoliosis—including her dad, grandpa, and great-grandma—she knew the stakes. Her advice to others?

"The first two months are hard. It might seem difficult, but it will make for a better future."

We are so proud of her dedication to her "future self" while staying a flyer on the mat and a force on the lacrosse field!

Did you know that scoliosis often has a "family tree"? 🌳🔍

Statistics show that nearly 1 in 3 patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis have a family history of the condition. While the exact "scoliosis gene" is still being studied, we know that if a parent or sibling has a curve, the risk for other family members increases.

At National Scoliosis Center, we often see siblings and even multiple generations come through our doors. This is why we emphasize "The Power of Proactive Screening."

If scoliosis is in your family:
✅ Don't wait for a school screening. ✅ Perform a home Adam’s Forward Bend Test.
✅ Consult a specialist if you notice any asymmetry.

Early detection is the key to non-operative success and avoiding surgery!
