More Than a Movie: A Wake-up Call on Family, Sacrifice, and Self-Preservation

It is not only in the workplace where people encounter toxic relationships or unhealthy social environments. Sometimes the most difficult challenges come from within our own homes and personal circles.

This reality is at the heart of "How To Get Away From My Toxic Family," a 2025 Filipino drama directed by Law Fajardo and written by John Bedia. The film tells the story of Arsenio, an Overseas Filipino Worker played by Zanjoe Marudo, who returns to the Philippines and finds himself struggling with his family’s toxic behaviors and overwhelming expectations. With Susan Africa joining the cast, the film highlights themes of sacrifice, family loyalty, and the importance of establishing personal boundaries.

What sets this movie apart is its honesty. Many viewers describe it as a “slap of reality” because it mirrors situations that are painfully relatable. It speaks to the experiences of countless Filipinos at home and abroad who find themselves carrying emotional weight that is rarely acknowledged.

On September 7, 2025, Premium Care USA was honored to be one of the major sponsors of the private screening held at LOOK Cinema in Tysons Corner. The event was a success with a full house audience that responded warmly to the film’s timely message.

This film underscores that conversations about mental health, self preservation, and boundaries should not be confined to professional settings. They are equally important in our personal lives where the effects of toxic environments can be just as damaging. By supporting initiatives that bring these issues into the open, we create opportunities for dialogue, empathy, and meaningful change.

This past Wednesday, our teams from Virginia, Maryland, and the Philippines came together for an inspiring and energizing 2025 Mid-Year Conference, a bi-annual tradition that reminds us of who we are, how far we’ve come, and where we’re going.

We were honored to welcome Col. Al Kim as our keynote speaker, who delivered a powerful message on the transformative power of resilience, a theme that resonated deeply with our mission and the heart of caregiving. His words reminded us that behind every challenge is an opportunity to evolve, serve, and lead with purpose.

Each of our branches shared presentations highlighting key accomplishments from the past six months, milestones that reflect our team’s hard work, unity, and unwavering commitment to excellence. From expanding our client base and improving caregiver training to implementing new quality care initiatives and enhancing operational efficiency, it’s clear: we’re growing stronger together.

Looking ahead, our teams set bold goals for the remainder of 2025, focused on innovation, outreach, and expanding access to our home-based, world-class caregiving solutions. We’re doubling down on what makes us Premium: a deep respect for families, a passion for service, and a team that truly cares.

At Premium Care USA, we don’t just provide care; we build trust, dignity, and hope into every home we serve. As we reflect on our journey, we remain more determined than ever to redefine what compassionate, personalized care looks like across the communities we serve.

Here’s to continued growth, purpose-driven leadership, and a future where care truly knows no borders.

Winter weather is truly here, and with up to 12 inches (or more) of snow expected in the DMV area, it’s more than just cozy sweaters and hot cocoa! Knowing winter weather tips is crucial to keep you and your loved ones safe.

✅ Be Prepared for Emergencies: Having the right gear, like blankets, flashlights, and extra food, can make all the difference.

✅ Stay Warm and Healthy: Knowing how to dress in layers, prevent frostbite, and avoid hypothermia ensures you stay warm and safe in freezing conditions.

✅ Protect Your Home: Frozen pipes? Power outages? Tips like insulating pipes and having backup power can save you stress and money.

✅ Drive Smart: Black ice is invisible and dangerous! Knowing safe driving practices in snow and ice could save lives.

✅ Plan Ahead: Canceling or rescheduling plans based on weather forecasts might be inconvenient but can keep everyone out of harm’s way.

✅ Keep In Touch: Communicate with your family and friends during a severe winter weather and keep everyone updated of your situation.

Winter weather can be unpredictable, but your safety doesn’t have to be!
