𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝟏𝟎𝟏
• A sprain stretches or tears the wrist ligaments, usually after a fall on an outstretched hand
• Typical signs are sudden pain, swelling, bruising, and trouble gripping or rotating the wrist
• First-line care is rest, ice, gentle compression, and a splint
• See a hand specialist if pain is severe, the wrist looks crooked, or you still cannot move it after a few days. An X-ray may be needed to rule out a fracture. Sometimes, more advanced imaging like an MRI is needed to look for a more serious injury.

Mallet finger happens when the tendon that straightens the tip of your finger is damaged. This often results in an inability to fully straighten the fingertip.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐲
➡︎ 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬: Often occurs when a ball or other object hits the tip of a finger, forcing it to bend further than normal.

Flexor Tendon Injuries: What You Need to Know

The flexor tendons in your fingers and thumb help you bend them. When these tendons are hurt, you may have trouble moving your hand normally.

What Can Cause These Injuries:
● Cuts that go deep into the hand
● Getting your hand badly squeezed or crushed
● Getting hurt while playing sports

Symptoms:
● Inability to bend one or more joints of the finger
● Pain
● Numbness - associated with a cut or injury to the digital nerve of the finger

Treatment:
● Often requires surgery to repair the tendon followed by hand therapy for rehabilitation

If you suspect a flexor tendon injury, seek immediate medical attention. Early intervention is crucial for optimal recovery.
