We couldn’t agree more. It was a pleasure getting to meet their staff and other stakeholders in the area. To learn more about them, visit thewomenscenter.org/ Twc Page Jennifer Shore

Today is the first day of Mental Health Awareness Month and as mental health providers, we felt compelled to share this podcast and article with you all. Podcast link in the comments.

In a recent study, the CDC found from 2009 to 2021, the share of American high-school students who say they feel “persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness” rose from 26 percent to 44 percent. Nearly HALF of high school students are identifying this way and it is the highest level of teenage sadness ever recorded. This is a big deal and it’s something we see daily as we get more and more calls from parents requesting appointments for their teenagers.

It’s easy to shrug this off and blame it on the Covid pandemic. However, a lot of this data was collected before the pandemic started and it’s pointing to one BIG factor: Social Media.

Read the article. Listen to the podcast. If you need help, please reach out to us.

Four forces are propelling the rising rates of depression among young people.
