Eggplant was in my box last week. I’m getting a new box tomorrow and have a policy that last week‘s food needs to be eaten before the next batch arrives!

I made these tasty eggplant fries! So good and yes I ate the whole dang thing 😋 🍆
Problem solved ✔️

Here’s the recipe:
slice up your eggplant into 3 inch sticks. Toss with sea salt, pepper, olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, and crushed red pepper. Air fry for about 14 minutes on 380°. Shake once at half time. Serve warm with some fresh Parmesan cheese and marinara sauce!

March is still root vegetables and citrus.
But something else is happening.

The light is changing 🌞

Evenings are brighter. Sunset is later.
And your biology feels that shift before your brain does.

More evening light means:
• A slightly delayed melatonin signal
• A natural pull to stay up a little later
• A subtle shift in appetite and food preference

This is why bitter greens start sounding good.
Why citrus still feels right. 🍊
Why winter soups and stews can suddenly feel like too much.

Seasonal eating isn’t about trends.
It’s about light. ☀️

As daylight starts to expand, your metabolism adapts. You may tolerate carbohydrates a bit better. Water-rich plants start to feel easier to digest.

Nothing extreme is required.

Just notice what the light is doing.
And let your plate adjust gently with it.

March is a transition month.

You don’t have to overhaul anything.
Just pay attention.

I spent two hours making this minestrone soup today. 😋

A few years ago, I would’ve rushed it.
Chopped faster.
Listened to a podcast.
Answered texts.
Tried to make the time more efficient.

Today I didn’t.
I just did the thing.

I’ve changed the way I relate to effort.
Pushing doesn’t feel the same way it used to.

When things stop working, it’s rarely because you’re doing it wrong. It’s likely because your rhythm is changing.

Sometimes listening works better than trying harder.

I wrote more about this on Substack. The link to the full post is in my bio 🙏

I surveyed my community and nearly half of the women described feeling “stuck,” despite doing so much right. That tells us something important about what the body may be responding to. This isn’t about more effort.

Loved looking back a decade ago to see all the meals, girlfriends, adventures, motherhood, and becoming. 💛

Some things changed. Some things stayed the same. Everything served 🙏

And some souls are still with me… always. 🤍🐾

It’s the start of a new year and everyone is pushing hard right now.

Winter, meanwhile, is asking us to slow down and recalibrate. ❄️

This week I’m running a live 21-Day Winter Rhythm Reset focused on helping your body work with the season and your own physiology.

If your body has felt a little off, this may be the reset it’s asking for.

Most women I work with think skipping breakfast saves calories… but it actually confuses your metabolism.

When you wake up, light tells your brain it’s morning.
But without food, your metabolism never gets the signal that it’s safe to use energy.

Morning light starts your hormonal rhythm for the day— a gentle rise in cortisol, not the spiked, wired kind.
Breakfast completes that signal. It gives your body the nutrients to move pregnenolone into balanced hormone production and shift from stress to steady energy.

☀️ Light + food = safety.
And safety is what turns your metabolism on.

If you want to understand how your body actually keeps time (with hormones, hunger, and energy) watch my free masterclass: Your Body In Rhythm.

Metabolic Mastery is open 💛

If you’ve been doing all the “right” things but your body still isn’t responding, it’s not your fault.
Your metabolism has changed — and it’s asking to be supported differently.

Midlife is not the problem.
Outdated tools are.

Inside Metabolic Mastery, my 12-week live group coaching program, you’ll learn how to:

• Understand your body’s signals and what they’re really telling you
• Eat and move in ways that support your metabolism, not fight it
• Build daily rhythms that restore energy, sleep, and hormone balance
• Feel confident and strong in your skin again

We start the first week of November.

Save $200 through October 27 with code RESET200.

You don’t need to do more — you just need to do what works for your body now.

About Danielle Omar, MS, RDN

Helping you get back into your kitchen with simple to make, plant-based recipes using real, whole foods.

I’m the founder of foodconfidence.com and creator of the Nourish 21-day Clean Eating program and Food Confidence community. I’m also an Integrative Dietitian, nutrition consultant, and veggie lover.

I’ve spent almost two decades helping women transform their health. I’ve worked with moms, busy executives, business owners, teachers, accountants — pretty much every type of woman under the sun. And they all have one thing in common: something is missing in the way they feel about their health. They’ve struggled with what to eat their whole life. They’ve deprived themselves of the foods they love. They have a diet mentality when it comes to being healthy… they’re either “on” it or “off” it.

My mission is to free you from this way of living and teach you how to align what you eat with who you really are.
