5 things you might not know about knee pain:
1️⃣It's not always about your knees. Sometimes knee pain can be referred to as pain from a hip or back problem. The nerves in your back and hips can sometimes send pain signals to your knee, making it feel like the source of the discomfort is in your knee itself.
2️⃣Weakness in your buttocks can contribute to knee pain. Strong glutes help stabilize the hips and pelvis, which takes stress off the knees. Weak glutes can lead to poor alignment and increased knee stress, causing pain.
3️⃣Tight hamstrings can also be a culprit. Tight hamstrings pull on the back of the knee joint, which can strain the ligaments and muscles. Stretching your hamstrings regularly can help to improve knee flexibility and reduce pain.
4️⃣Certain occupations put you at higher risk. Jobs that require a lot of kneeling, squatting, or stair climbing can put a lot of stress on the knees over time. If you have a job like this, it's important to take breaks often and to strengthen the muscles around your knees.
5️⃣Not all knee pain is created equal. There are many different causes of knee pain, each with its treatment. If you're experiencing knee pain, visit us at any of our four locations: https://tinyurl.com/PainFreeStartsHere
