Primary Responsibilities:

Evaluate, diagram and implement proper work-zone protection techniques.
Ensure all crew members have proper personal protection equipment.
Maintain and keep up to date current knowledge of safety rules, RoadTek Traffic safety protocol, regulations, laws and procedures (OSHA and VOSHA, etc.) and train crew members in proper safety methods.
Ensure that safety is a priority and constantly monitor work zones ensuring safety procedures are followed and adhered to at all times.
Maintain and ensure work zones allow for safety of work crew, landowners, and the traveling public.
Review, read, and implement Virginia Work Area Protection Manual (“WAPM”) policies when implementing detours, lane closures, and work zones, etc.http://www.virginiadot.org/business/resources/wztc/Virginia_WAPM_2011_web.pdf
Take corrective action when unsafe conditions are identified.
Immediately ask for assistance when unsafe work zones occur by contacting managers, administration and inspectors.
Notify Branch Manager of any ongoing safety issues verbally and in writing.
Issue disciplinary action documents for any crew member not following safety protocol and/or crew leader instruction. Complete paperwork and submit to branch daily.
Complete daily billing tickets in accordance with branch schedules issued by Branch Manager.
Follow inspector instructions.
Serve as liaison between customer, branch manager and RoadTek Management.
Complete accident packages, employee injury reports to HR immediately following protocol a set forth in the accident report package.
Turn in “Job Site Briefing” daily
Preventative Maintenance

Lead or perform equipment repair, replacement, and preventative maintenance checks and services.
Complete or oversee pre-trip inspections for any vehicle or equipment operated.
Manual Labor

Participate as a leader or working member of the crew in order to complete projects to accomplish objectives.
Perform manual labor and other maintenance tasks as needed for project completion. Complete assigned work as instructed in established time frames.
Leadership
Conduct on-the-job training and recommend additional training needs to Area Headquarters Branch Manager.
Provide constructive feedback on job performance of work crew.
Assist with record keeping and administrative tasks.
May serve as back-up to the Branch Manager.
May serve in a supervisory capacity during emergencies.
Equipment Operation

Demonstrate considerable skill and expertise as an operator in the proper and safe use of all equipment.
Apply specialized knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance techniques, materials, and specifications to perform more complex tasks.
Ensure equipment is operated in a safe and appropriate manner.
Demonstrate hands-on use, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
Perform snow and ice removal on vehicles in preparation for dispatch
Traffic Control

Provide traffic control in support of maintenance operations. Install and remove traffic signs and other warning devices in a timely and appropriate manner.
Flag traffic to ensure a safe and effective work zone.
Technical Competencies

Ability to lead, direct, train and provide technical direction and guidance to a variety of laborers
Ability to plan work schedules and identify and assign manpower, materials, and equipment needed to accomplish the job.
Considerable knowledge of traffic control equipment, materials, methods, and procedures.
Knowledge of RoadTek Traffic Solutions safety policies, procedures, and programs related to roadway construction and maintenance.
Considerable skill in the operation of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and equipment used for highway maintenance and the operation and maintenance of hand-held and power tools.
Ability to accurately and complete reports and records.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Skill in the use of computers and software applications.
Ability to interpret and apply work zone safety and traffic control manuals.

VIRGINIA WORK ZONE SAFETY INSPECTOR

Description and responsibilitiesThe job interacts with employees, management, customers, and general public.The work zone safety inspector is responsible for monitoring and enforcement of safety work zones as set forth by the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Work Area Policy Manual better known as (“VAWAPM”) and RoadTek Employee Safety Practices and Procedures Handbook (“RESPPH”) which adds additional safety protocol to the VAWAPM.The position travels to selected work zones to ensure proper VDOT conditions are met in accordance with VAWAPM and RoadTek Traffic Solutions safety policies. The position oversees the work zone employees to ensure all work zones and safety policies are sheared to at each job site. Essential Functions:• Work Zone Safety Inspector• Inspect and relay data and information to State Safety Inspector Manager and Upper Level Management, regarding the detection of safety violations; including but not limited to work zone set-up and safety violations including but not limited to proper safety gear and/or behaviors.• Provide work zone inspections of each job listed on the branch schedule to ensure compliance with RESPPH and VAWAPM policy.• Maintain accurate, legible, and concise records and logs including but not limited to daily/hourly work details, inspection of property damage.• Inspect and make corrections to work zones to ensure the movement of vehicular traffic around work zones is safe.• Transmit correction of crew chiefs and RoadTek’s (crew members) in compliance with VAWAPM and RESPPH policy and procedure including dissemination of VDOT pocket guide.• Ensure all crew chief and RoadTek’s are wearing displaying and proper safety gear (“PPE”) is being used on the job.• Ensure all licensed RoadTek drivers are displaying proper color-coded lanyards displaying credentials and driver’s license• Ensure all disciplinary write-ups are transmitted to State Safety Inspector Manager, Safety Director, State Manager, Branch Manager, and Human Resources on a daily basis. • Ensure there are no unauthorized persons and/or vehicles and loitering in or around work zones.• Serve as the liaison between safety department and work zone crew to report and ensure VAWAPM and RESPPH is being followed.• Issue disciplinary documentation to any employee not following company safety policy including but not limited to the disregard of work zone setups.• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein including but not limited to serving as a crew chief, roadtek, road control crew member, or any other duties involved with sending crews to the field, and/or replacing crew members. The accounts receivable manager is responsible to ensure all invoices for work performed is submitted timely, accurately, and professionally. Job also includes the entry of billing data to generate billing. All invoicing shall be submitted no later than 7 calendar days after work has occurred. This role also serves as an auditor, ensuring that invoices are accurate and that proper accounting procedures are followed to allow for proper remittance accounting. This position ensures that the Accounts Receivable Department runs smoothly, including but not limited to supervisory oversight of account receivable clerks.
