Androgenic Alopecia, also known as Male Pattern Hair Loss, is a condition that effects all men at some point as the get older. Most white men develop some degree of baldness, according to their age and genetic makeup. Male pattern baldness affects up to half of all white men by the age of 50 years and up to 80 percent of men in the same group by the age of 70 years. Other ethnic groups, such as Chinese and Japanese, are less affected. Hair Loss in men begins manifesting with the miniaturization of the hair follicle and it is generally known to be related to hormones in both males and females. It is important to understand each hair on your head lives in small hole called a follicle. Most of the time, the size of the follicle remains the same, and normal hair continues to grow from it. However, in cases of male pattern hair loss, for some reason, the follicle shrinks. The end result of this shrinkage of the follicle, is shorter finer hair, or no hair growth at all. At some point, even though the hair follicle itself will remain alive and open in-spite of its smaller size, hair simply stops growing. Non Surgical Hair Replacement:
Non-surgical hair replacement involves the use of a hair “system”. Many modern hair systems look convincing, with a similar shape and texture to your real hair. Non-surgical hair replacement is a term that has two meanings. The first typically refers to any type of treatment for male pattern baldness that doesn’t involve surgery. This is a very diverse, broad category that includes medications, supplements, devices and more. The second is more specific. It refers to a small range of products that are worn on or applied to the scalp to replace hair that’s fallen out due to male pattern baldness. These products include a variety of off-the-shelf and personalized hair replacement “systems,” as well as non-surgical procedures such as scalp micropigmentation
Hair Extensions:
Female pattern hair loss is a condition that occurs in women who suffer from androgenic alopecia. Affecting up to 40% of women by age 50, it begins with patients noticing a thinning of their hair, along with obvious signs of shedding, such as more hair fall in the shower, in their hairbrush, and on their pillow when they wake up in the morning. Unlike men who suffer from male pattern hair loss, the signs and symptoms in women are more pronounced. Where men will notice thinning in certain areas of their scalp such as temples and crown, women with female-pattern hair loss will notice hair thinning all over their scalp with more loss occurring on the top of the head, causing a widening of the center hair part. The one piece of good news about female pattern hair loss is that rarely if ever does it lead to complete baldness as it does for men.
