If you live with a chronic condition like fibromyalgia, arthritis or another long-standing pain disorder, you body can feel sensitive to touch, inflamed or just…"tired."

The Truth?
Chronic pain isn't just about “hurting”—it's can also feel like you're misunderstood, friends/family not knowing how to support and unsure of what will help without making things worse.

That's where Ashiatsu Massage can step in.

Why Ashiatsu Works for Chronic Pain?
While Ashiatsu is often known for being one of the deepest massage styles, it's also one of the most GENTLE when used with intention.

Here's how it can support chronic conditions:

• Broad, Even Pressure – The feet provide wide, smooth strokes that distribute pressure evenly across the tissue. This prevents sharp, painful pressure and allows for a calming release instead.

•Nervous System Regulation – Ashiatsu helps shift the body into a parasympathetic state (“rest and digest”), which is key for reducing pain perception and calming overstimulated nerves.

•Increased Circulation – Improved blood and lymph flow can help reduce inflammation and stiffness in joints and muscles—especially helpful for arthritis and fibromyalgia flare-ups.

•Customizable – Every session is tailored to where your body is that day. Whether you're flaring or feeling strong, we meet you there.

You shouldn't have to live in pain every day. And you shouldn't have to fear your healing tools.

Massage—especially the right kind—can be a powerful way to soften what hurts and bring relief into your routine.

Curious if Ashiatsu might help you?

When people think about muscle tightness or pain, they often assume it’s just the muscles themselves causing issues. But there's a whole layer of tissue beneath the surface that plays a massive role in how your body feels and functions: your FASCIA.

What is Fascia?

Fascia is a thin, elastic connective tissue that wraps around every muscle, organ, bone and nerve in your body—kind of like a spiderweb or full-body bodysuit. It helps everything stay in place, move fluidly and work together efficiently.

But when fascia becomes restricted, knotted or dehydrated, it can cause:

• Reduced range of motion

• Persistent tightness

• Sensations of stiffness or pain

• Even nerve compression or postural problems

Stress, lack of movement, injuries and repetitive strain all affect your fascia—often without you even realizing it.

Why Ashiatsu Massage Works So Well for Fascia

The broad, slow and deep compression of Ashiatsu Massage is incredibly effective at releasing fascial adhesions. Unlike pointy elbows or sharp thumbs, the foot’s pressure is smooth and expansive—helping to stretch, loosen and rehydrate tight fascia gently and thoroughly.

Ashiatsu recipients often can feel "taller", more fluid and “unglued” after just one session.

If you’ve been stretching and still feel stiff… the missing link might be your fascia.

Let’s get to the root of it together.

06/07/2025

Are your neck, wrists or shoulders constantly aching—especially after a long day at your desk, on your phone or scrolling before bed?

Welcome to one of the most common issues of our time...sometimes referred to as "Modern Tension."

And it's showing up in the form of Tech Neck, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, forearm tightness, shoulder immobility and even chronic headaches.

Modern life has pulled our posture—and our muscles....
• Hours hunched forward over laptops and phones.
• Repeated micro-movements like scrolling and typing.
• Tension creeping in while we “rest” in front of screens.

And all of that tension builds up in some of the most sensitive structures in the body.

Here's what's happening:

✔ Tech Neck – Caused by forward head posture, putting up to 60 pounds of pressure on the spine.
✔ Carpal Tunnel – A narrowing of the nerve channel in your wrist, often made worse by repetitive use and tight forearm muscles.
✔ Shoulder Imbalance – From hours of internal rotation (like typing and texting), making your chest tight and upper back overworked.
✔ Nerve Impingement – Tight muscles can compress nerves, causing tingling, numbness or shooting pain.

Here's the good news:
Massage can help counteract all of this—safely, naturally and effectively.

MASSAGE THERAPY FOR "TECH-RELATED TENSION:"
https://www.massagebook.com/therapists/massage-by-mary

✔ Releases tight muscles that are pulling you into poor posture
✔ Reduces pressure on nerves causing carpal tunnel-like symptoms
✔ Restores circulation and mobility to overused areas
✔ Eases mental stress tied to physical strain
✔ Helps you reset your nervous system and start fresh

Whether you're already feeling symptoms or just want to stay ahead of them, building a rhythm of care is one of the best things you can do.

You don't have to live in discomfort.
This is your sign to reset your body and unwind what modern life is doing to your muscles.

Ashiatsu Massage might sound unusual if you've never experienced it before—but for many of my clients, it's their ABSOLUTE FAVORITE.

Instead of using hands and elbows, I use my feet (with carefully controlled pressure and technique) to deliver broad, deep strokes that melt tension without the sharp discomfort of traditional deep tissue work.

So what can you expect?

- You'll lie comfortably on a massage table, just like any other session.
- I'll use overhead support bars to guide and control the pressure of my feet. (No, I'm not just walking directly on your back with my full weight.)
- The strokes are long, flowing and deeply grounding—some people have shared it's like “a massage hug for your whole body.”
- It's both relaxing and therapeutic—especially if you carry chronic tightness in large muscle groups like the back, hips or legs.
- Ashiatsu can be ideal if you:

✔ Love deep pressure
✔ Struggle with chronic tension or stiffness
✔ Want to feel even more supported
✔ Are curious about a new massage experience that feels more luxurious and is incredibly effective

It's normal to feel curious (or even a little skeptical!) before trying something new—but trust me, this is one of those “Why didn't I do this sooner?” experiences.

Ready to give your muscles the relief they've been asking for?

Whether you're healing from a fall, an overuse injury, surgery, or a simple strain...WHAT YOU DO AFTER THE INJURY matter...
04/28/2025

Whether you're healing from a fall, an overuse injury, surgery, or a simple strain...WHAT YOU DO AFTER THE INJURY matters just as much as how it happened.

One often-overlooked part of the recovery process?...

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE!

Massage can safely and effectively support your body's healing when used at the right time and in the right way.

Here's how:

✔ Increases Circulation to Damaged Tissue
Injured muscles and connective tissues need oxygen and nutrients to repair. Massage increases blood flow to these areas, helping your body deliver what it needs to rebuild and remove what it doesn't (like inflammation or excess fluid).

✔ Helps Break Down Scar Tissue
When healing, your body creates scar tissue that can sometimes restrict mobility or cause lingering discomfort. Gentle, targeted massage can help break down excess scar tissue and keep your healing tissue supple and mobile.

✔ Eases Muscle Compensation
After an injury, your body may shift how it moves to avoid pain. That means other muscles are overworked and can become tight or strained. Massage identifies and addresses these patterns before they turn into bigger problems.

✔ Reduces Stress & Tension
Let's not forget—injury recovery isn't just physical. Massage can reduce the stress, tension and frustration that often comes with healing, supporting both your body and your mind through the process.

Important Note:
Massage isn't a one-size-fits-all tool. I always take YOUR SPECIFIC SITUATION into account—working gently and carefully based ON WHERE YOU ARE IN YOUR RECOVERY JOURNEY.

Whether you're dealing with recent injury or still working through older pain, you don't have to do it alone.

Let's help your body heal smarter—not harder.

An Unexpected Support For Your Immune System—Naturally

Your body has powerful defenses. Massage can help them work better.

Are you feeling run down lately? Or, concerned about the "gunk" going around?

Whether you feel like you're constantly fighting off colds, struggling to bounce back from illness or just feeling "off", your immune system might be waving a flag.

It's very clear diet, sleep and exercise are key, but did you know massage therapy can play a surprisingly helpful role in strengthening your natural defenses?

Here's how massage supports immune health—without pills or crazy side effects:

✔ Reduces Stress, the Silent Suppressor
When your body is under constant stress, it produces high levels of cortisol, which weakens immune function over time. Massage lowers cortisol and activates the parasympathetic nervous system—the body's rest and recovery mode—giving your immune system space to reset and function properly.

✔ Increases Lymph Flow (Your Internal Cleanup Crew)
Your lymphatic system is responsible for flushing out toxins, waste and pathogens. But unlike your circulatory system, it doesn't have a pump. Massage manually stimulates lymph flow, helping your body clear out what it doesn't need and protect itself more effectively.

✔ Boosts White Blood Cell Activity
Some studies have shown that regular massage can increase the activity of white blood cells—your immune system's first responders. That means your body can better recognize and respond to infections.

✔ Improves Sleep Quality
Sleep is when your body repairs, regenerates and strengthens immunity. Massage encourages deeper, more restorative sleep—so your system can do its job overnight.

If you're ready for another way to support your health from the inside out, massage not only feels amazing, it is a natural, powerful way to do it!

Let's build your wellness foundation stronger—one session at a time.

You stretch. You foam roll. You move more. And yet… your muscles still feel tight.Sound familiar? Stretching alone isn't...
03/31/2025

You stretch.
You foam roll.
You move more. And yet… your muscles still feel tight.

Sound familiar? Stretching alone isn't the solo answer—and here's why.

WHY Your Muscles Stay Tight:

✔ Overuse & Repetitive Strain
When you repeatedly use certain muscles—whether from workouts, long hours at a desk or daily activities—they don't always relax properly. Instead of loosening up, they stay in a semi-contracted state, leading to chronic tightness.

✔ Lack of Circulation & Hydration
Muscles need oxygen and hydration to stay pliable. Poor blood flow, dehydration, or nutrient deficiencies can leave them feeling stiff and achy, no matter how much you stretch.

✔ Muscle Imbalances & Compensation
If one muscle group is weak, another often overworks to compensate. The result? Constant tension in certain areas (think tight shoulders from weak core muscles or tight hamstrings from underactive glutes).

✔ Stress & Nervous System Tension
Tightness isn't always physical—it's often neurological. When you're stressed, your nervous system signals your muscles to stay tense, like a constant low-level fight-or-flight response.

Massage: The Missing Link to Lasting Relief:

Unlike stretching, massage works deep within the muscles, breaking up adhesions, increasing circulation and calming the nervous system. It helps your muscles truly release instead of snapping back into tightness.

Because stretching alone isn't cutting it, it's time to reset your body with massage. Ready to feel real relief?

03/20/2025

Do you feel like your body is always on HIGH ALERT!?!

Racing thoughts, muscle tension restless sleep—these are all signs your nervous system may be stuck in OVERDRIVE. In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught in a cycle of chronic stress, where your body never fully relaxes.

Massage therapy isn't just about relieving muscle tightness—it works on a deeper level, helping to reset your nervous system and bring your body back into balance.

How Massage Supports Your Nervous System:

✔ Helps Shift You Out of "Fight or Flight" – Stress activates the sympathetic nervous system, putting your body in survival mode. Massage stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system—also known as “rest and digest”—lowering heart rate, reducing cortisol (stress hormone) and promoting deep relaxation.

✔ Reduces Pain & Tension – When your nervous system perceives stress, it signals muscles to stay contracted. Massage interrupts this cycle, easing muscle tightness and helping your body learn how to relax again.

✔ Boosts Feel-Good Chemicals – Massage increases serotonin and dopamine, neurotransmitters that enhance mood, promote restful sleep and combat anxiety and depression.

✔ Lowers Inflammation & Supports Healing – Research shows that massage reduces inflammatory markers in the body, which helps with recovery, immune function and overall well-being.

Your Nervous System Deserves a Break:
If you're constantly feeling tense, wired or exhausted, it's time to give your nervous system a chance to reset. Regular massage therapy can retrain your body to relax, helping you feel calmer, more centered and in control of your health.

REMINDER...Massage Therapy...
IS A RHYTHM...a rhythm of Self-Care that allows you to feel your best—body, mind, and spirit.

Do you ever feel like no matter what you do, your muscles stay tight? You stretch, you rest, maybe even apply heat or ice...
02/03/2025

Do you ever feel like no matter what you do, your muscles stay tight?

You stretch, you rest, maybe even apply heat or ice, yet the tension lingers—especially in your shoulders, neck, and back. If this sounds familiar, you may be caught in a "Stress & Muscle Tension Loop"—a type of cycle where stress and physical tightness reinforce each other, making it hard for your body to ever fully relax.
How This "Cycle" Works:

Stress Activates Your Nervous System – When your brain perceives stress, it sends signals to your body to prepare for action, triggering the "fight or flight" response. This causes muscles to contract, particularly in areas like your neck, shoulders, and jaw.

Tension Becomes Chronic – When stress is ongoing (is this daily life for you?)...your muscles don’t get the chance to fully release. They remain in a semi-contracted state, leading to discomfort, stiffness and even pain.

Tight Muscles Signal More Stress – Your nervous system picks up on muscle tension and interprets it as a sign that something may be wrong, keeping you in a heightened state of alertness and reinforcing stress.

This loop can make relaxation feel impossible, but the good news is... you CAN break the cycle.
How Massage Helps You Reset

Massage therapy is one of the most effective ways to interrupt the Stress & Muscle Tension Loop. Here’s why:

✔ Activates the Parasympathetic Nervous System – Massage shifts your body from the stress-driven “fight or flight” state into the calming “rest and digest” mode. This helps lower cortisol (the stress hormone) and promotes relaxation.

✔ Releases Built-Up Tension – By working directly on muscles that hold stress, massage helps lengthen and relax them, relieving tightness that won’t go away on its own.

✔ Improves Circulation & Oxygen Flow – Tight muscles restrict blood flow. Massage helps restore circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to sore areas, reducing pain and stiffness.

✔ Enhances Your Body’s Natural Relaxation Response – Research shows that massage increases serotonin and dopamine—neurotransmitters that help regulate mood, relaxation and sleep.
Don’t Let Stress Control Your Body

If you’re tired of feeling like your tension has tension, let’s break the cycle together.

A consistent RHYTHM of massage can help reset your nervous system, ease chronic tightness, and give your body the deep relief it needs.

Book your next session with me NOW, and take the first step toward lasting relaxation.
