This collaborative approach allows us to offer clients various professional perspectives to meet our client’s needs throughout their lives. We offer therapy for children, individuals, couples and families, as well as a broad range of specialty services including consultations and our Speakers’ Bureau. No judgment either way! It’s a cool little reminder: how we frame things really shapes how we feel about them. This week’s challenge: pay attention to your inner dialogue.
Are you saying:
“I have to…” or “I get to…”
“I’m failing” or “I’m figuring it out”
“I have to be the best” or “Doing my best is enough”

Reframing your words can shift your whole mood, motivation and mindset. It’s not toxic positivity—it’s giving yourself a more helpful lens to navigate the week and to meet yourself where you’re at!

Stress doesn’t just stay in our minds—it settles into our bodies too. This weeks coping skill we’re focusing on Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) to help release that built-up tension and bring you back to calm.

Follow the arrows on the image and try this:
Tense each muscle group for 4 seconds then slowly release. Start at the top (like your forehead or shoulders) and work your way down through the body. Repeat as needed breathing deeply with each release.

Why it helps:
PMR reduces physical symptoms of stress, calms the nervous system, improves sleep and helps you become more aware of where you hold tension.

When we feel stressed or overwhelmed our nervous system often shifts into one of four responses: fight, flight, freeze or fawn. These are instinctive survival strategies—not flaws or failures 💙

You might notice this in everyday moments like avoiding tasks (flight)
snapping at a loved one (fight)
going blank in conversation (freeze)
or over-apologizing to keep the peace (fawn)

When anxiety or overwhelm takes over your thoughts can race and your body can feel like it’s in overdrive. That’s where grounding techniques come in—they help shift your focus out of your mind and into your body.

The 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique works by engaging all 5 of your senses to bring you back to the present moment. It gently interrupts spiraling thoughts and calms the nervous system by anchoring you in what’s real and right now.

This technique tells your brain: “I’m safe. I’m here. I can handle this”.
