Is your child getting school services? They can also benefit from private as well! Here’s why ⬇️

School therapy focuses on helping your child succeed in the classroom. Private therapy can help with skills that go beyond academic impact. We focus on how your child’s muscles, movement, and airway are working together. That means we’re supporting speech, feeding, breathing, and long term oral health.

If your child is “doing fine at school” but still struggling at home, there is usually more going on. Book an evaluation today!

What helped ⬇️

Baby taking forever to finish a bottle? This baby came to Brave Wings taking very small amounts from the breast or bottle and needing a long time to feed. His parents also noticed he strongly preferred turning his head to one side.

That head-turning preference meant one side of his neck muscles was stronger than the other, which can actually affect feeding.

So we looked at the full picture. Our speech therapists worked on oral motor skills to strengthen the lips, tongue, and jaw and help him learn how to use those muscles during feeding.

At the same time, our occupational therapists worked on positioning and range of motion, helping his body develop the stability needed for feeding.

After 3 months of therapy, this little one is now:
• Breastfeeding
• Bottle feeding efficiently
• Enjoying purées
• Starting baby-led weaning

Feeding challenges aren’t always about the milk or the bottle — sometimes they’re connected to how a baby’s muscles and body coordination are developing.

Shout out to Victoria (SLP) and Annelise and Clara (OTs)

If feeding is taking a long time or your baby is only taking small amounts, it may be worth getting support early.

Parents hear a lot of advice when they raise a concern about their child. Sometimes that advice is right. But early evaluations aren’t about labeling kids or committing to years of therapy.

They’re about getting clear on what’s going on and deciding what support might help. Early clarity can make a big difference. If something about your child keeps coming up for you, it’s okay to ask questions.

When children need speech therapy, feeding therapy, or developmental support, they may also be seeing pediatricians, ENTs, or neurologists. Coordinating all of that can feel overwhelming.

At Brave Wings Therapy, we help families across North Jersey connect their child’s care team and make sure everyone is working toward the same goals.

This is one of the tools we use to assess lip strength during a myofunctional evaluation.

It may look simple, but it gives us valuable information about how your child’s lips are functioning for speech, feeding, and breathing.

At Brave Wings Therapy, we don’t guess. We assess!
