This pirate-themed sensory bin was packed with more than just treasure hunting fun! During today’s OT session, kiddos worked on fine motor skills while digging and grasping, visual perceptual skills while locating hidden items, and sequencing skills by following clues and completing pirate-themed tasks in order. Sensory play + skill building = the perfect adventure!

Visual schedules and simple step-by-step cues help children know what to expect, reduce anxiety, and build independence during daily routines like school drop-off. Pairing these supports with engaging tools (like fidgets!) can keep little hands busy while minds stay focused and calm.

Tearing paper may look like simple play, but it builds powerful fine motor skills! This activity helps strengthen the small muscles in the hands, supports grasp development, improves bilateral coordination, and promotes hand-eye coordination needed for skills like coloring, cutting, and handwriting. We love using fun, hands-on tasks like this in OT to help children grow their confidence and independence—one tiny tear at a time! 💪🖍️

We are using our Flexible Friends Tool Kit to helps children strengthen **flexible thinking** and **executive functioning skills**—like problem-solving, planning, self-regulation, and adapting when things don’t go as expected. 💡🧠

Through engaging occupational therapy activities, we support kids in developing the tools they need to navigate everyday challenges with confidence and success!
