Update on Shelby County Commissioner’s & M*ask M*ndate ⬇️
I’m just all around disappointed. Disappointed that we have to work so hard just to be heard…
Yesterday the Shelby County Commissioners held their weekly Monday meeting where they voted 2-1 to deny Southwestern schools to have their appeal heard. Don Parker voted against denying their appeal because he cited he wanted to hear what they had to say….they were not afforded that chance.
Mind you - a surprise Executive Session was held last Wednesday to discuss the “legal litigation” of said appeal. According to the Open Door policy in Indiana, those sessions can be held if legal action is the reason & NOTICE IS GIVEN TO THE PUBLIC 48HR IN ADVANCE.
However, there was never an actual legal suit even filed - it was just a letter to the commissioners - so there was as no “litigation” that would uphold that policy. Additionally, we aren’t certain that public notice was made as required.
And since there is now no legal case pending, I have requested to be on next Monday’s agenda to speak at the commissioners meeting…I have not heard back on if I will be permitted….
In regards to Major Hospital & the Shelby County Board of Health - I spoke with the hospital’s CEO last week…
▶️My main question: show me the data linking my 3YO wearing a dirty mask to less admissions to your hospital.
▶️ His response: there’s really no data to fully support that those two things are linked…
Summary: we are being silenced. No answers have been giving from the powers that be. And our kids still have masks on arbitrarily.
There will be an interview airing on WRTV6 on Friday morning to discuss where we stand on this & a call to action to right these wrongs for our kids….please share it!
