One of the perks to one on one training is that we always have your back…literally!
Your trainer is with you the entire time to ensure you are performing movements properly and making tweaks to optimize every movement!
This is especially important in preventing injuries and making sure you get the most out of every rep.

Here we have Carter and John demonstrating our thought process when we make adjustments during a chest press. Many clients perform this move to strengthen the chest and shoulders which helps with posture, ability to carry items throughout the day, and perform any kind of pushing motion.

Let’s hear a shoutout for our girl, Patti!
It’s one thing to be able to do a plank on the floor, but it’s a whole different ballgame to do one on the stability ball!
You may think we do this just because it looks cool, but it really adds an extra level of difficulty when it comes to using your core!
The ball adds an extra level of balance and stability to force your core to work even harder and ultimately become stronger!
The tiny adjustments needed to not fall will provide extra engagement within the transverse abdominis and oblique muscles.
As you can see, Patti demonstrates it perfectly!

We are so thankful to have a leader who is guided by her own convictions and genuine compassion toward bettering the lives of others.
She is a true example of what is means to be a professional who also cares for her team!
She’s way too humble to take the credit for herself, so today we want to give credit where it is due.

Need an exercise modified? We got you covered!

We want to take this to demonstrate how we would modify a Russian Twist.

This movement is great for improving core strength, especially in the oblique muscles which are on the sides of your torso. These muscles help with twisting motions so you are able to maintain control without “throwing your back out” as you turn around.

Many of our clients start out with having goals of being able to get up and down off the floor. Since Russian Twists are performed on the floor in a more advanced setting, we are able to easily adapt and move to a seated position if necessary!

Now you are still able to work on the range of motion in your torso and spine while still working on your goal of getting up from the ground!

Ever wonder what goes on during a session at Axio Fitness Fairlawn?
Charlotte is here is to set a great example!
Here we having her utilizing different pieces of equipment to incorporate a variety of upper body movements!
Charlotte was interested in improving her muscle definition in her arms while also maintaining functional strength to do every-day things like pick up the laundry basket, reach for dishes on the top shelf, and carry things around with ease!

Here is this week’s healthy and easy recipe! 😊

If you are tired of the same old salad dressing, give this hummus dressing a try. It’s super easy to mix together quickly, so you can have fresh dressing for your greens any time. Use your favorite hummus, any flavor. Spice it up by adding herbs, garlic powder or sriracha. (I used roasted red pepper hummus and added around a half teaspoon of sriracha.) If you like a thicker dressing, just reduce the amount of water you use.

Hummus Dressing

¼ cup hummus
1 ½ Tablespoons water
1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Pinch of salt, optional
¼ teaspoon smoky paprika, optional
Mix all ingredients until smooth. Makes 6 Tablespoons.

Nutrition per Tablespoon: 35 calories, 1g protein, 3.5g fat, 2g carbs, 60mg sodium

Do you suffer from tight ankles or shin splints after running? Then give this move a try with Raven on today’s !

No equipment needed, just find a wall to lean against and slowly walk your feet forward. You can then lift your toes up towards your shins and gently lower them back down to the floor. Repeat this move for 15 to 30 reps.

This will help primarily strengthen the tibialis anterior, which is often a difficult muscle to stretch on a daily basis, and takes quite a beating when performing high impact movements. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

We couldn’t help but show off our Cornersburg client, Trina, on this !

Trina suffered a stroke in the past and had very little movement in her arm when first starting at Axio.

Her sister didn’t believe that she was capable of doing these exercises so of course we had to get some evidence to prove all the amazing things she has been able to accomplish recently!

Thank you Trina for your hard work and dedication. We are always willing to work around any limitations or restrictions to help give the best experience and results possible! Trina is a true testament to what functional movement can do for your body.

Welcome to !

Today we have Raven coaching Greg through a flat bench dumbbell chest press.

Greg has a weak left shoulder so the flat bench position helps create more stability under his shoulders to build a better foundation of balance and strength before moving to a more inclined and shoulder-heavy position.
