SHIP Faribault, Martin & Watonwan Counties Making the healthy choice, the easy choice in Faribault, Martin and Watonwan Counties.

In July 2009, Human Services of Faribault and Martin Counties collaborated with Watonwan County and applied for the Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) funds. SHIP funds were used in a nation leading effort to impact policies and practices to better nutrition, increase physical activity and promote tobacco cessation within schools, communities, worksites and health care organizations. In 2 years time, over 310 sustainable, community-wide changes were made within the three counties. Five years later, insurmountable changes continue to transform our diverse, rural counties into healthy places to live, work, play and seek health care services.
