Your liver does many important functions to keep you healthy. It removes toxins, fights infections, helps with digestion, energy production and blood clotting. This simple, delicious juice recipe will help your liver avoid congestion and continue working optimally.
Juice together 5 ribs of celery, 1 small beet, 1/2 apple, 1/2 cucumber. Add the juice of 1/2 lemon. Drink first thing in the morning; wait 30 minutes before eating breakfast. (If you don’t have a juicer you can do this in a blender and then strain the pulp through a sieve.)

Are you using REAL or FAKE salt? Common table salt is synthetic and has little in common with the real mineral rock salt found in the earth and sea. If a food label lists salt or sodium chloride in the ingredient list, that’s the fake chemical form and should be avoided. On the other hand, Himalayan pink salt has 20% of the minerals our bodies need and Celtic sea salt has 80% of the minerals required for processes within the body. Additionally, the real salt doesn’t raise your blood pressure like the synthetic does. It shouldn’t be hard to make healthy choices when you’re feeding your family. Unfortunately harmful agricultural practices in the last 60 years have stripped many nutrients from our foods for the sake of bigger profits. Is your “fresh” air killing you? 💨🍃

We spend a lot of time indoors during the winter so the quality of the air we breathe is important. Air freshener sprays and plug-ins like Febreze are a primary source of indoor air pollution that have an equal health risk to second-hand smoke. They emit dozens of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including formaldehyde and acetaldehyde, that exacerbate allergic airway inflammation and are hormone-disrupting chemicals. Other VOCs are toxic to the brain and nervous system and are linked with asthma, migraines, skin, lung and eye irritations.

And the manufacturers aren’t required to tell you what is in it! The ingredient list is intentionally vague. Unfortunately our favorite fragranced candles are no better, emitting toxic components even when they aren’t lit.

Want an easy, nourishing, delicious home-cooked meal to help navigate the cold of winter? Try one of our favorites!

EASY MULLIGATAWNY SOUP

2 ½ cups chicken broth
1 cup water
1 cup chopped apple
1 cup chopped carrot
1 7.5- ounce can tomatoes, cup up, undrained
½ cup chopped celery
⅓ cup long grain rice (I substitute brown rice and cook longer)
¼ cup chopped onion
¼ cup raisins
1 tablespoon snipped fresh cilantro or parsley
1 to 1 ½ teaspoons curry powder
1 teaspoon lemon juice
¼ teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 ½ cups chopped cooked chicken

In a large saucepan combine all ingredients except chicken. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, about 20 minutes, or till rice is tender. Stir in chicken and heat through. Makes 4 servings.
