Emergency shelter available at Fairmont State. They are also accepting donations. ❤️

🚨UPDATE:

To provide more privacy, the shelter has moved to Colebank Hall Gym. The American Red Cross is on-site with cots, blankets, food, and hygiene supplies. All flood-displaced individuals are welcome.

To ensure the shelter operates smoothly and that the needs of those staying with us are met efficiently, we kindly ask that donations not be delivered directly to Colebank Gym. Instead, please coordinate all donations through our trusted partners at Tygart Valley United Way.

Attention Marion County Residents:

Marion County has established an emergency shelter in Colebank Gym, in partnership with Fairmont State University. The American Red Cross has coordinated the delivery of food, clothes and hygiene items. Cots, blankets, towels and warm showers are available to any county resident who has been displaced due to today’s devastating flooding.

Special thanks to our own cast of MaMa Mia who stopped their 9-hr. tech rehearsal to deliver donated snacks and cases of water. Supporting our community is key to our community arts program and the entire Fairmont State Family.

The United Way will coordinate all donations. We will post information as it becomes available. For today, please help us spread the word that emergency shelter is available. All those needing help are encouraged to find shelter with us on campus.

You are NOT alone!

The Trump administration’s proposed budget cuts to the 988 hotline’s specialized services for LGBTQ+ youth are an attempt to break us, but our community is still here, and we’re not going anywhere.

We will support each other, protect each other, and THRIVE. ❤️

If you need help, please reach out to our friends , , or any of the other incredible orgs at hrc.im/LGBTQmentalhealth.

Neurodivergence refers to the natural variations in how our brains work, including conditions like ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and more.

🌐 These differences can impact how we think, learn, and interact, but they also bring unique strengths, perspectives, and skills.

Embracing neurodiversity means recognizing and valuing all kinds of minds—because there's no one ‘right’ way to be human. 🧠💡

Our FIRST Neurodivergent Support Circle registration closes in just a few weeks. Discover more about yourself and connect with like-minded friend.

April Starsick MSW, LICSW, SEP, Owner

Here's a little information about your practitioner. I am a Somatic Psychotherapist and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of West Virginia, and the owner of Intuitive Wellness. I am the first, and currently the only Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner providing SE™ trauma resolution therapy, a body based psychotherapy model utilized with incredible success world-wide, in our beautiful Mountain State. I am excitedly anticipating SE™ spreading to all areas of our state! I am a member of the US Association of Body Psychotherapists as well as a member of the Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner's Community. I have been practicing as a psychotherapist since 2001, when I graduated from West Virginia University with a Master of Social Work in Clinical Mental Health. I completed specialized trauma resolution training at the Somatic Experiencing® Trauma Institute. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work and Minor in Sociology from WVU. I am also Reiki Master Teacher, which helps inform some of my practice on a different level. I have spent the majority of my career providing trauma therapy as well as treatment for anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life stress, life transitions, codependency, school and career stress, relationship stress, LGBTQ related issues and many others. I have been in private practice since 2010 providing outpatient, integrative psychotherapy services to individuals coping with a variety of issues, with a special interest in trauma survivors.
