Did you know? Smoking or va**ng cannabis in apartments, condos, and other shared buildings is against the law in Minnesota. That includes balconies and patios too. Cannabis smoke can harm kids, older adults, and people with breathing problems who live nearby.

Protect your health and your neighbors by knowing the law and choosing safe spaces.

A good night’s rest gives kids a chance to “recharge” their bodies and minds for each new day. Without enough rest, it’s really hard for kids to focus at school, handle tough emotions, and feel good in their bodies!

A steady bedtime and quiet wind-down time can make sleep easier for everyone. Things like calming activities, dim lights, and going to bed around the same time each night helps kids fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. Helping kids feel safe and settled at night is one important way you can support their well-being and build resilience.

Find healthy sleep tips and tools to support healthy rest at: https://www.fmchs.com/index.php/aces-and-resiliency/aces-healing-and-prevention/help-my-kids

Because kids do better with consistent sleep routines and regular rest.

Take care of your health today, so you don’t miss out on the moments that matter.

We know life gets hectic (especially during the holidays) but your health is important. Men often put off routine care, which can increase the risk of serious health problems like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Don’t wait for a warning sign or for something to feel “off.” If it’s been a while, consider this your reminder:
- Schedule a check-up
- Catch up on screenings
- Take care of your mental well-being

Your future self - and your family - will be glad you did!

The holidays often bring family and friends into your home. Curious kids and visiting relatives may not recognize cannabis products, and even small amounts can be harmful.

If you use cannabis, keep your family safe by storing products locked, out of sight, and out of reach. If you no longer want them, dispose of them safely.

This season, protect what matters most. For tips on safe storage and disposal, give us a call at 507-238-4757.

Don't let an unexpected injury spoil your fall plans! As cooler weather and shorter days arrive, taking a few simple steps to prevent injuries can keep you and your family safer this season:

- Clear your walkways. Keep sidewalks, yards, and paths free from leaves, snow, and ice.
- Check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Make sure to test alarms and replace batteries before winter heating begins.
- Secure rugs, cords, and tripping hazards. Use non-slip mats, tuck away cords, and look for clutter than can cause a fall.
- Drive smart and adjust to the conditions. Buckle up every time, keep your windshields clear, and slow down to avoid accidents.
- Protect kids indoors. Install cabinet locks and gates, and keep all medications out of reach.
- Wear helmets and safety gear. Whether you're biking, skiing, or snowmobiling, helmets can prevent serious head injuries.

Stay safe and enjoy the season!

Pneumonia can cause coughing, fever, and breathing problems. Young children and older adults are at the highest risk, especially during respiratory season. Severe cases can lead to hospitalization or even become life-threatening. Watch for warning signs such as chest pain, fast breathing, extreme tiredness, or bluish lips or fingertips. If you notice these symptoms, seek medical care.

Make sure to keep your child safe this winter!

Extra padding from coats makes it hard to get a car seat harness to fit correctly. The harness might feel snug, but the extra material will compress in a crash, making the harness too loose. Loose harness straps means your child won’t be safe in a crash. For more specific information about how to properly keep your child warm and safe in their car seat visit: BuckleUp_WinterCarSeatSafety_2024.pdf or give one of our car seat techs a call at 507-238-4757
