We’re excited to introduce Alyssa Leger, the driver of our brand‑new 𝙃𝙊𝙋𝙀 𝙤𝙣 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙨 mobile cancer screening bus and one of the friendly faces helping us bring lifesaving screenings directly to communities across Kansas and western Missouri, thanks to generous support from the Kansas Masonic Foundation and the Cinelli Family Foundation.

Alyssa will be behind the wheel (literally!) making sure 𝙃𝙊𝙋𝙀 𝙤𝙣 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙨 gets where it needs to go, safely and with a smile. We’ll be doing a fun “Get to Know Alyssa” series across several Facebook posts so you can learn more about the person helping drive hope forward. Let's get started!

"My professional background consists of driving tractor-trailers and warehouse operations. I have experience in being behind the wheel of a variety of large vehicles, running a forklift, shipping/receiving, and package delivery. While I love driving, I was looking for a change in environment. Healthcare was a career field I was interested in; I like interacting with people and being of service. When I started looking at what opportunities I could possibly transition into, imagine my surprise when I found a job posting for a CDL driver for a 42 ft vehicle at KUMC! I knew how to perform most of the duties that were listed and for everything else, I was willing to learn. It almost seemed too good to be true at how this job was the right blend of what I knew and what I was wanting to know. I knew I would be a great fit, and luckily the MCA team agreed."

During Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month, we share the facts about HPV-related cancers. HPV-related head and neck cancers are the most common type of HPV-related cancers in the United States.

• Around 70% of throat cancers are caused by HPV.
• HPV-related head and neck cancers are most common in males.
• Head and neck cancers occur more frequently in people 50+, though HPV-related head and neck cancers are often in younger people as well.
