Just wanted to notify my followers that Covid is on the rise with a new variant referred to as FLiRT. This is a highly contagious form that has seen an uptick of about 23% in at least 20 states across the nation and Colorado is quickly increasing. The symptoms are similar to previous variants and includes loss of smell, all the upper and lower respiratory symptoms as well as vomiting and diarrhea. It may be hard to determine the difference from Influenza as that season quickly approaches. I would definitely advise to get your influenza vaccines this year. The over-the-counter Covid tests seem to still be accurate in determining Covid illness and the CDC is still advising a 5-day isolation from start of symptoms if you are positive.
We have seen a large number of cases of Covid since March with a cyclic presentation of about every 14-21 days having a high rate of positives. Be mindful as school starts that the viruses will be very active in the community.
