Team Meeting this week was bittersweet. It was our last time having Amanda Garcia LICSW join us. In the over 3 years she has been with CCC she transitioned from part-time to full-time 👩🏻‍💻 moved to New York to chase her dreams 🌆 obtained independent licensure 🎉 trained the team on domestic violence 👩🏻‍🏫 provided group therapy in addition to individual, couples, and family therapy for teens and adults 💻 and started her own business AGarcia & Co 💼 Her impact extended beyond her clients and her presence at the practice will be missed. Her passion for this work is contagious, her joy for life is unmatched, and her journey is truly inspiring ✨ We wish her all the best in this next leg of her journey!

If you’ve ever wondered what to say or do when someone is grieving, this is a good place to start.

• Acknowledge their grief — don’t avoid it
• Listen without judgment — presence matters more than words
• Respect their process — grief has no timeline
• Offer practical help — meals, errands, childcare
• Avoid minimizing their pain — “at least” isn’t helpful
• Check in regularly — even months later
• Avoid giving advice — just be there

Sometimes the most powerful support is simply showing up.

Grief can feel heavier during this season. Here are some ways to take care of yourself:

Everyday Grief Tips:
🔹Take care of your physical health
🔹Allow yourself to feel your emotions
🔹Talk to others you trust
🔹Engage in activities that bring you joy
🔹Be gentle with yourself
🔹Embrace memories of loved ones

Extra Holiday Tips:
🎀Acknowledge the loss—name it and honor it
🎀Adjust expectations for yourself and celebrations
🎀Create or build new traditions/rituals
🎀Prepare for triggers (dates, songs, or family dynamics)
🎀Release guilt—you are not failing by grieving
🎀Care for yourself—physically, emotionally, and mentally

Remember there’s no “right” way to grieve.

The holidays can be especially hard when you’re grieving. Remember: grief isn’t linear, and it’s okay to feel however you feel—there’s no timeline, and you may experience these stages in any order, at any time.

Here are the five stages of grief:
🔹Denial – Feeling numb or in disbelief.
🔹Anger – Frustration, irritability, or resentment.
🔹Bargaining – Thinking “If only…”
🔹Depression – Deep sadness and withdrawal as you process the loss.
🔹Acceptance – Acknowledging the loss and finding ways to live with it.

Your grief is personal. Be patient with yourself, honor your emotions, and reach out for support if you need it.

✨ Myth Buster Monday ✨

Myth: "Therapists give advice."

Reality: "Therapists provide guidance and support to empower you in making your own decisions."

Therapy isn’t about being told what to do—it’s about gaining clarity, insight, and tools so you can choose what’s right for you.
