In hospice care, kindness is at the heart of everything we do, from easing patients’ pain to sitting with families in their grief. Today, we celebrate the everyday acts of compassion that make the world a little brighter for those who need it most.

❤️🤍💙 What an incredible honor. At Bourne Manor Extended Care Facility, we held a Veteran Pinning Ceremony recognizing more than 30 brave men and women who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines.

Each pin placed today represented more than service — it represented courage, sacrifice, and love of country.

This event touched us deeply. For many of us, including those who come from long lines of family who have served, sacrificed, and even been lost, honoring our Veterans isn’t just part of our work - it’s personal and sacred.

A heartfelt thank-you to Kerry MacDonald, our incredible Patient Care Advocate, for her time, compassion, and leadership in bringing this ceremony to life - and to the dedicated team at Bourne Manor, who care for our Veterans and community with such excellence every day.

We want to thank our special guest, Retired Bourne Police Sergeant Timothy Derby, and a proud retired Veteran of the USAF as a Technical Sergeant. After the USAF, Retired Sergeant Timothy had a remarkable 25 years career with the Bourne Police Department. His lifelong commitment to protecting both our country and our community embodied the spirit of the ceremony, a salute to the veterans at Bourne Manor. Also in attendance was his Wife, Kerry.

We also extend our gratitude to Sandwich Boy Scout Troop 47 for joining us to honor our Veterans.

Through Continuum Hospice and the We Honor Veterans program, we are privileged to provide compassionate, dignified care that recognizes each Veteran’s story and service. ❤️🤍💙
