Our patients and their babies will not be forgotten after the closure of SWC. Dr. Hughes took each and every photo off the baby wall and put them in a box to take home with her. She said it was important to her to hold on to them. ❤️

As of 5:00 today, February 28, 2025, Southcoast Woman's Care is permanently closed and no longer providing medical care. It has been our honor to care for all our patients for the past 20 years. Any medical needs after our closing should be directed to your new OB/GYN provider or your Primary Care Physician (P*P). For urgent concerns, you can seek care at your P*P office or at a Walk-in facility and in case of emergency, seek help at the Emergency Department or call 911. After March 7, 2025, all medical records will need to be obtained through Morgan Records Management. Their information will be available on our website soon.

CLARIFYING THE PREVIOUS POST:

If you filled out your medical record request form for the records to go to "Self" or to Truesdale OB/GYN, then you need to pick them up in person.

Records going to Southcoast OB/GYN, your P*P, or ANY other office, WE WILL SEND to the requested office.

To all our wonderful patients:

Anyone who still needs to pick up their medical records, please plan on picking them up before 02/28/25. If records are not picked up and you have to request them from our medical record custodian who will take over our records when we close, they do charge for records. So avoid paying and pick them up SOON! 🙂

For those of you who have been wondering, I accepted a position with Southcoast Health OB/GYN starting March 2025. I will be located on the first floor of 300 Hanover Street (yes, same building!) We would like to update our patients on our recent announcement of our closing. SWC has worked tirelessly over the last couple of years to prepare our practice for some anticipated changes. Unfortunately, we have exhausted all options and have been unable to come up with a viable solution, despite all our efforts. The decision to close was not taken lightly and we are well aware of the impact this has on our patients, our staff, our providers, and our community.
Dr. Hughes is retiring as of February 28, 2025, a date she has pushed back several years in hopes to avoid this very situation.
Dr. Hersh hopes to stay local but has not yet secured a new position yet and Dr. Kratochvil also has not secured a new position yet and and is not yet sure where she will be. Christina, as previously mentioned, will be joining Truesdale OB/GYN. As you can see, this is a very recent decision and is still a work in progress, but it was important to us to update our patients and our staff as soon as possible.
Attached is a list of other local OB/GYN offices although we are unaware which ones are accepting new patients. Record releases are available to print on our website, www.southcoastwoman.com, and can also be obtained in our office or at the office you will be transferring your care to. Record releases can be dropped off at our office, mailed to our office at 300 Hanover Street-Ste3A, Fall River, MA 02720 or emailed to us at southcoastwomanscare@yahoo.com. Once received, we will work to get your records to your new office as soon as possible.

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that Southcoast Woman's Care will be closing permanently on February 28, 2025. It has been a pleasure caring for the women of Fall River for the past 20 years. We have a list available of local OB/GYN practices for you to consider transferring your care. When you establish care at your new office we will be happy to mail your records directly to them.
