The practice of yoga through breathing and moving meditation has brought not only an increased flexibility but more stability to my body and more importantly my mind. Through my practice I have achieved an overall calm and balanced demeanour, allowing me to tackle the ever increasing pressures and stresses that every day life throws my way.

A reminder that landed in my own heart this week and felt worth passing on....

You do not have to earn the right to feel good.
You do not have to be further along, smaller, more healed or more together.

You are allowed to take up space exactly as you are right now.
To feel good in this body, on this day, in this version of your life.

Fully. Unapologetically. Alive.

That is not a reward for when you finish the work.
That is available to you right now. ♡

Somatic release has been everywhere lately and the reason is straightforward.

We have spent decades treating stress as a mental health issue.

The research is increasingly clear that stress is also a physical one.

When your nervous system experiences something overwhelming and does not get the chance to complete the stress cycle.... the threat response stays active in your body.

In your jaw. Your shoulders. Your hips. Your gut.

Somatic practices work by giving the body what it needs to complete that cycle and discharge the stored tension.

Shaking. Intentional movement. Breathwork. Hip opening. Body scanning.

None of it is woo.
All of it is physiology.

This is one of the most exciting areas of nervous system research right now and it makes complete sense of why so many people feel better after movement that has nothing to do with performance.
