I feel incredibly fortunate to attend every birth, and it's especially heartwarming when I get to support a family member.

During our vacation in Missouri, my sister-in-law had a scheduled induction, and she and my brother asked me to serve as their Doula. I felt privileged to guide them through the birthing process, even though she's an experienced mother. She appreciated my presence and ability to address any questions that arose. Meanwhile, my brother benefited from my comedic relief and Uno skills. Once it was time to focus, we all worked together to comfort mama. I'm proud to have played a part in their birth story.

🟣 Another blog post updated and moved to my website!
Babies are born with their own resuscitation equipment. The placenta not only helps the baby to transition but also assists with resuscitation if needed. There is no reason to clamp and cut the cord of a baby who needs help. Doing so will create more problems for the baby and mother. Anything that needs to be done can be done with back-up from the placenta and the mother's involvement.

Great article about Doulas and our role during birth.

Doula Penny Simkin discusses the positive impact that doulas have on birth outcomes. They provide a unique form of labor support that is different from that of other caregivers involved in the birth process--but complements the roles of others. Simkins describes why this is so.

Finally a study that supports home birth and midwifery! This is not a bash on hospitals. I’m thankful for them actually. I just believe deeply in the woman and her strength. We have been doing this for thousands of years quite successfully. Well before the healthcare “system”.

New study suggests home birth with a midwife is a safe viable option for low risk women, and offers “better obstetric and neonatal…

These three women are so good for my soul!

Their hands off approach and loving presence help everyone settle into the birth space.

Last night the mama had some gentle hypnobirthing playing in the back ground. “My care team are by my side and on my side. I am surrounded by supportive people”.

Homebirth is safe, gentle and caring. There is no advocacy necessary. We are all on your side.

Gosh I love you ladies 💞

Evidence Based Birth® came out with a really informative podcast on 10 ways to reduce cesareans. I went through the transcript and created a document from their podcast. Hopefully by pulling out information and creating this handout, it will simplify and encourage you to make informed decisions when it comes to your birth.

Here is the podcast: https://evidencebasedbirth.com/343

I will put the handout in the comments as well as a link to look up your local hospitals maternity ratings!
