We realize the strong connection between our body and minds, and use that to provide a more effective kind of treatment for our patients.

Valentine’s Day can bring up a lot — especially if you’re healing from heartbreak, loss, or a relationship that meant something to you.
There’s no “right” way to move through this day. You don’t have to rush your healing, force joy, or pretend you’re okay if you’re not. Grief and healing are part of love, too.
If today feels quiet, tender, or heavy — you’re not doing it wrong. You’re processing something real.
Support can help hold that space when it feels like too much to carry alone.
If you’re navigating heartbreak or healing, therapy can offer support and space to process.

Couples therapy isn’t only for relationships in crisis.
Many couples use therapy as a proactive, healthy tool — much like individual therapy — to strengthen communication, build emotional awareness, and stay connected as life changes.
Therapy can help couples:
• practice more mindful listening
• improve trust and emotional safety
• deepen empathy and understanding
• navigate conflict with less reactivity
• grow together instead of drifting apart
You don’t have to wait until something feels broken to care for your relationship. Just as we invest in our own mental wellness, relationships benefit from the same intentional support.
Couples therapy isn’t about fixing what’s wrong — it’s about supporting what matters.

Gaslighting is a form of emotional manipulation that causes someone to question their own thoughts, feelings, memories, or reality.
It can sound like:
“That never happened.”
“You’re being too sensitive.”
“You’re overreacting.”
“You’re imagining things.”
Over time, gaslighting can erode self-trust and create confusion, self-doubt, anxiety, and emotional distress. The goal isn’t always intentional harm — but the impact is the same: it makes it harder to trust yourself and your experiences.
Healthy relationships allow space for different perspectives without dismissing or invalidating your reality.
If you’ve found yourself constantly questioning yourself or needing reassurance that your feelings are valid, support can help you rebuild clarity and confidence.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most well-researched and effective approaches for treating anxiety.
CBT focuses on the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors — and how certain patterns can keep anxiety going, even when you’re trying your hardest to feel calm. When anxious thoughts repeat or go unchallenged, they can shape how you feel in your body and how you respond to everyday situations.
Rather than forcing positive thinking, CBT helps you build awareness of these patterns and develop practical, realistic skills to interrupt them. Over time, this can make anxiety feel more manageable and help you feel more like yourself again.

These are some of the most common questions therapists hear from people living with stress and anxiety.
If you’ve ever wondered, “Why am I like this?” or felt frustrated that you can’t just calm down, there’s an important reframe to know:
Anxiety is often a nervous system response, not a lack of willpower.
When stress has been ongoing, the body can stay in a state of threat — even when nothing is “wrong” in the moment. That’s not a weakness. It’s your system trying to protect you.
With the right support and regulation, anxiety can become more manageable — and you don’t have to figure that out alone.
Our blog answers some of the most frequently asked questions therapists hear about stress and anxiety, offering gentle education, clarity, and reassurance for anyone navigating this experience.

Stress is a natural response, not a personal failure.
When stress becomes ongoing, the nervous system can stay in a heightened state of alert — even when nothing feels “wrong” in the moment. This can show up as tension, fatigue, irritability, difficulty resting, or feeling constantly on edge.
Understanding stress through a nervous system lens helps shift the question from “What’s wrong with me?” to “What has my body been responding to?” That reframe alone can be deeply relieving.
At Think Happy Live Healthy, we help individuals make sense of how stress affects both the mind and body, and work together to develop supportive, sustainable ways to respond to it.

Dissociation is a nervous system response that can happen when your mind and body feel overwhelmed.
It can show up as feeling numb, spaced out, disconnected from your emotions, or like you’re watching life instead of fully living it. For some people, it feels like brain fog or moving through the day on autopilot.
Dissociation isn’t a sign that something is “wrong” with you. It’s your brain’s way of protecting you when things feel like too much — often during periods of chronic stress, trauma, burnout, or emotional overload.
With the right support, it’s possible to feel more present, connected, and grounded again.

If you don’t recognize yourself anymore, it doesn’t mean you’ve lost who you are.
It often means your nervous system has been in survival mode for too long.
Trauma isn’t stored only in the mind — it lives in the body. When the brain perceives threat, protective responses like dissociation can take over, shaping how safe we feel, how we connect, and even how we experience our identity.
At Think Happy Live Healthy, we use body-based therapies like Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) to help identify and release stored emotional stress held in the nervous system. By restoring a sense of safety in the body, reconnection becomes possible — without forcing yourself to “go back” to who you were.
Identity loss isn’t a failure.
It’s a response.
And with the right support, healing can begin.

If January already feels overwhelming, heavy, or like you’re somehow “behind,” you’re not doing the new year wrong.
So many people burn out early by trying to change everything at once—taking on too many goals, pushing through exhaustion, getting sick or shutting down, and then blaming themselves for needing rest.
You still have time. Starting strong doesn’t mean doing more—it means moving at a pace your nervous system can actually sustain.
If the new year already feels like a lot, support can make a difference.
We offer free 15-minute consultations to help you figure out what kind of support would feel most helpful right now.

Mental health care doesn’t have to begin in a therapy room.
Sometimes it starts with early exposure, curiosity, and showing kids that caring for others can be a future path.
This is what it looks like when a practice becomes part of the community—and why outreach like this matters.

The idea for Think Happy Live Healthy began several years ago as I was working as a school psychologist in the Northern Virginia area. Starting out in elementary school I saw an overwhelming amount of children suffering from depression, suicidal thoughts, self-injury and anxiety. By middle school, kids were overstressed, overworked, and overcommitted. They had developed no coping skills and therefore chose unhealthy ways to deal with their distress. One of the largest maintaining factors was that parents and teachers themselves were overworked and overstressed. Working in the school environment left me feeling very much the same way. So I set out on a mission to combine my training in school psychology along with my passions in mindfulness, yoga, fitness and nutrition to help inspire change.
Based largely on CBT and Mindfulness principles, we help our clients better understand and manage their thoughts and emotions in order to achieve relief from feelings of distress. Unlike traditional therapy, which places a large emphasis on counseling and medication, we believe that mental health is connected to our physical health. At Think Happy Live Healthy LLC we work to create an individualized plan for each client that involves therapy, fitness and nutrition programs. We realize the strong connection between our body and minds, and use that to provide a more effective kind of treatment for our patients.
If you are wanting to lead a healthier and happier life, where you feel motivated and empowered to reach your goals, we can help! By learning to let go of bad habits and embrace change, you have the power to live your best life.
