Unlock the magic of cacao!

Like a monthly ritual of its own, the algorithms keep serving up cacao ceremonies in my feed. They're not wrong to target me. Hardly a day goes by that I'm not "getting my magnesium" or "honoring my ancestors" who were chocolatiers.

Since I've yet to click the button and check out one of these cacao circles, lo and behold -- one came to me!

Cacao Circle with Jenny Dipasupil
Sunday, October 26th at 2pm
Luminous & Grounded
103 Rowell Ct, 3rd Floor
Falls Church, VA 22046

This one-hour experience is led by my colleague Jenny (https://www.jennydipasupil.com/) , a licensed massage therapist and energy healer with 18 years of experience. Jenny’s life has been transformed by cacao, and she can’t wait to share it with you.

Can you join us?

We've got four spots available - first come, first serve.
You can reserve your Cacao Circle ticket here. (https://square.link/u/EapxewuV)

Can’t make it or live too far?
You can still join in. Connect with Jenny virtually. (https://www.jennydipasupil.com/about-jenny) She even has discount codes so you can order ceremonial cacao straight to your door. She’ll guide you through the experience and share all the benefits, from wherever you are.

Rooted in Amazonian and Mesoamerican traditions as “the food of the gods,” cacao offers more than just flavor—it offers bliss, thanks to compounds like anandamide, the “bliss molecule.” That chocolate craving? It starts with cacao, the minimally processed seeds inside cacao pods. It’s a natural mood booster that lifts your spirits, sharpens focus, and creates a calm, open state. Jenny will guide us through all of this as we experience cacao through gratitude and connection.

Please note, ceremonial cacao contains natural stimulants like caffeine and theobromine, which may affect those sensitive to caffeine or with chocolate allergies. The ceremony may also bring up strong emotions—please honor your own comfort and wellbeing throughout.

Reserve your ticket for

Sunday, October 26th

Some additional housekeeping...

A quick housekeeping item: I was considering sending some snail mail, but I am missing a lot of addresses. Please take a minute and log into Square and/or Practice Better to update your physical mailing address (and anything else you'd like to provide or update).

Or really, you can also reply to this email and I'll manually update it for you. That works, too. 💌

4 spots left!

Have the best night of sleep with a sound healing this Tuesday! My new neighbor Lindsey, on the second floor of 103 Rowell Ct, owns Sound Family Health. We have a couple sound healings on the calendar and the first one is tomorrow night. We have four spots left, so grab a friend and join us!

103 Rowell Ct, Suite 200
Falls Church, VA 22046
Tuesday, September 16th from 7-8pm
Followed by refreshments

For Sunday's sound healing (https://square.link/u/Kurrom5X) we don't currently have anyone enrolled. If you've been considering it, now is the time to sign up!

Looking for that post-sound bath bliss, but can't make it?

By far one of the most popular intentions for Emotion Code and Body Code is better sleep. Whether you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or wake up feeling tired and wired, an exploration through the lens of Body Code can be a magical addition to all your best efforts. If you're struggling in the sleep department, give it a try!

Sublease Opportunity

I've always done my best to be transparent with you; I'm asking for a little help and here's why... Even before the Washington Post released a story on Friday, I was already hearing whisperings of soaring health insurance costs for 2026, so I wanted to get ahead of it and rent my office a couple days per week to offset the new premiums.

I'm certainly not ready to have a virtual-only practice, and I don't really want to raise my rates either, so please help by playing matchmaker for me and another practitioner. Here is a photo and a description you can share, along with my email.

Thanks, you're the best!

One More Thing...Serendipity

Serendipity. Such a fun word, and one of my favorite phenomenons. I love uncovering why the breadcrumbs have led me in a particular direction.

Equally fun, but obviously frustrating, is when themes present themselves and you're not really sure what they mean. Hmm...

Last weekend I had a theme nearly hit me in the head. Sharing here in case you're supposed to be involved, because frankly I'm still trying to figure it out!

Have you read this?

I haven't read this cover-to-cover, but I'm inclined to call it pioneering. Mainstream enough that I can reference it in a session, or like I did on Saturday, reference in an email.

What I did not expect after referencing it in an email (which I've literally never done), is that I would end up rearranging my home office, only to have it fall off the shelf over and over. Ultimately I decided to put this pestering book in my car and drive it to my office-office -- arguably a more suitable home for it.

Admittedly, never in the course of this endeavor did I think, Maybe I should finally read it cover-to-cover! Oh, but don't worry. The Universe had other plans for me. And maybe you, too!

The next day, on Sunday morning, I went to church and you won't believe what the lead pastor referenced in his sermon. Here is an actual photograph I took of the slide...

Here's your sign!

This quote will land differently for everyone. For me, I took the book back out of the car, brought it upstairs, and it's next in the queue.

Are we supposed to have a book club style discussion about it? Is this more about safety? Trauma? Breaking cycles? I don't know, but I can't wait to find out!

Please help me sew together the seeds of serendipity. Sometimes it takes a village!

Yours in Healing,

Rachel

Good Vibrations!

Did you hear? Our new neighbor Lindsey Kirkwood of Sound Family Health is open for business at 103 Rowell Ct on the Second Floor and putting out allllll the vibes!

Come experience her vibrational approach to healing at a special Sound Healing session, exclusive to Luminous & Grounded clients and their guests. Choose from:

Tuesday, September 16th at 7pm (https://square.link/u/rOmPdwpC)
Sunday, September 21st at 2pm (https://square.link/u/Kurrom5X)
—or come to both!

Space is limited to 10 people per session, so don’t delay!
Admission is $40 and includes light refreshments afterward.

Seeing you all connect and delight in each other's company is exactly why I host these events. True story: two husbands are now golfing together after their wives met at the March retreat. My heart is full!
Now… can we get these guys a foursome? I think so!

As tempting as it is to make more sound and frequency puns...

I want to make a brief plug for Emotion Code and then let you go. :)

I was at a concert Thursday and had a somewhat emotional moment...
“Have I just heard the Emotion Code theme song?!”
"DO WE HAVE OUR OWN THEME SONG??"
(Before you ask, no, it was not R.E.M or a cover of "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?") 🙄

I was at an Andy Grammer concert —my sixth one (I think?). People often tell me they’re not sure who he is, and then I suggest a song and they go, “Ohhh, I do know that one!" As much as I want Andy to be a megastar, I’m also totally fine with him staying the best-kept secret in music a little longer. :)

He's got great lyrics, he's not shy about addressing mental health, and he's a fantastic story teller. Before playing one of his newer songs called "Without You" he made a call to action. To let it ALL go! I admit I thought the song was about letting go of a toxic person, but he was clear about letting go of anything that doesn't serve you - the vices, all of it!

So what do you say? Let's get rid of some anger and anxiety, shall we?

Without You by Andy Grammer

Us against the world
Moving mountains together
That's what makes it hard
I didn't want this, but here we are

I didn't know my mouth could ever make this sound
So weird to say out loud, I think I'd be better without you
The walls are coming down, I'm reaching higher now
So weird to say out loud, I think I'd be better without you

That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you
That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you

I will brave the night
Take my chances, roll the dice
'Cause I can see some light
Coming through from the other side

The walls are coming down, I'm reaching higher now
So weird to say out loud, I think I'd be better without you
That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you

That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you

I didn't know my mouth could ever make this sound
So weird to say out loud, I think I'd be better without you

The walls are coming down, I'm reaching higher now
So weird to say out loud, I think I'd be better without you

That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you
That I could be happy, happier now
Finally figuring out that
I'd be better with, better without you

Moving mountains with you,

xo Rachel

Nurture your soul with a weekend away

The first-ever Luminous & Grounded retreat is set for March 14-16th in Harpers Ferry, WV. There's one queen suite left with your name on it! So forward this to your ride-or-die and join the other 14 of us!

In the meantime, take a stroll through the online photo album (https://www.perennialstays.com/magnolia-pond-farm/) of the gorgeous Magnolia Pond Farm. The property itself offers a heated saltwater plunge pool, fire pit, cozy fire places, a wraparound porch with rocking chairs, outdoor games and gorgeous en suites.

What exactly are we doing on the retreat?

For one, I'm cooking and you're eating! All the NTP-approved meals, snacks and supplies are included in your cost ($605 per person for the weekend, if you snag this queen suite). So are the activities. And as much as I like a good surprise, allow me to drip out a few of the highlights. Starting with introducing the lovely Mariah Sotelino, my co-leader for the retreat!

While I lace up my apron and go into chef mode, Mariah will be leading Pilates basics and some super-cool art projects. I couldn't let us go home without a souvenir, so she'll be helping us to create one. Mariah is an illustrator and a Pilates teacher with 25 years experience. Some days I'm convinced she understands my body better than I do! She's a whiz at helping you embody your body -- a true facilitator of creative expression!

We would be delighted to have you join our cozy little corner of the universe, whether that's at the retreat or a future event. The common theme will always be getting calm and centered, batteries recharged, and feeling stronger physically, emotionally and spiritually. At the retreat you may experience things for the first time, or you may get back in touch with a practice you've long forgotten. As has been the case with my previous events, this is your opportunity to "find your tribe" and connect with people who share similar virtues.

That's all for now. I'm going to make some tea, as just looking at the freezing rain out the window is making me chilly! Those two wood-burning stoves and that gas fireplace are sounding pretty inviting right now. As is the tea tasting that Acupuncturist and Herbalist Beth Burke Farrar will be providing Saturday evening at the retreat. Can't wait!

March 14-16, 2025

Future you will thank you for this little opportunity to escape to cozy luxury.

I'm not sure what I'm more excited for - the group art project, the sound bath, or the heated salt water plunge pool. How about you?

The good news is that you don't have to choose. It will all be available at the retreat. And only if you really like filling out Google Forms do you actually have to tell me which one you liked the best. :)

Whether you want to stay overnight (9 spots available) or come for the day (3 spots available), the retreat is your oyster! And I have a fun announcement about the activities and workshops that will be available...

Luminous & Grounded has never truly been a one-woman show, appearances aside. I have a tremendous network of talented people that I call colleagues. They educate me, inspire me, support me, heal me... at the retreat you get to meet some of them!

In addition to the quintessential elements of being Luminous & Grounded (yummy NTP-approved allergy-friendly food, foot baths, bioresonance...) you'll also be treated to:

*Individual and group art projects
*Breath work and Pilates basics
*Acupressure ear seeds
*Sound Bath experience

Whether you come for the whole weekend or Saturday only, these offerings will be available to all. Of course finding a cozy nook to read or journal, relaxing in the heated pool or sitting by the fire pit are always options, too. This is probably a good time to mention that I'll provide the structure, but engage as much or as little as you like. My goal is to have you return feeling like your batteries are fully charged, ready to plunge into Spring. :)

The links are now open for booking!

Yes, you will generally be sharing a bed, or at a minimum a bedroom, so you may want to book two at a time to ensure your bestie/sister/spouse is the one sharing with you. If you need time to coordinate, please let me know so I can keep an eye on things behind the scenes and advise you accordingly. If you need a roommate, shoot me an email!

Rest assured that trip insurance has been purchased in the case of a weather event. Once you pay your deposit there will be a Retreat Agreement to sign. When we get to March I'll issue the House Rules and make sure everyone's food sensitivities are addressed. If you have any questions about details like this, please email me!

Can't wait to see you there!

Have I worked on your dog?

I'm attending Dogtoberfest at Shipgarten (https://shipgarten.com/event/dogtober-fest/) on Saturday as a vendor. If you think more pet parents should know about Emotion Code and Body Code, could you hit reply?

Quick request! (and I mean quick... please don't spend more than 5 minutes on this...) I'm looking to publish some testimonials about how EC/BC has been beneficial to your pet or your relationship with your pet.

Please include one or more of the following:

*Name
*Photo
*Your pet's primary challenge(s)
*Testimonial about how Emotion Code/Body Code helped you and your pet

I'm planning to make a collage and this would be incredibly helpful in drawing attention to the booth and promoting Emotion Code and Body Code for pets.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help!

If you're local, swing by Dogtoberfest (https://shipgarten.com/event/dogtober-fest/)

Build Confidence in Muscle Testing

I love when clients tell me they've been playing around with muscle testing. If we could spend your Emotion Code sessions jumping in the way-back machine to release old, stuck emotions while you keep up with the day-to-day stressors, that would be kind of a dream, wouldn't it?

I'm hosting a Muscle Testing Basics workshop to help clients practice and establish confidence with various forms of muscle testing. This is so you can self-assess and practice on friends and family (not a professional level certification). This will be limited to 12 attendees, so jump on that early bird rate!

Workshop Details

Saturday, October 19th
9am - noon
Falls Church, VA

Through September 10th: $59
September 11th - October 18th: $79
Day of: $99

At the workshop we will review and practice the following methods:
Sway
Ring-in-ring
Elbow
Pendulum

We'll also go over the common pitfalls and blocks to accuracy such as dehydration and chemical blocks.

All tools will be provided. Just come with your curiosity!

Luminous & Grounded is 10 Years Old Today!

"How to celebrate with those both near and far?" I've been rolling this question around in my brain for months. I know I'll be eating funfetti cake today, but what about everyone else? Then it dawned on me. Music.

Whether there was going to be an official party or not, we would need music! Billy Idol taught me a long time ago that we can dance by ourselves. So whether you’re rolling solo today or in a room with 100 other people, I present...

our soundtrack. (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1hXDD7KPz7E85J3vttkiMH?si=KpWSXEmBTvSCGn-spXQ0ag&pi=u-2mMH5U-PSPOA&nd=1&dlsi=fcb48bbf22f34691)

Mix Tapes are My Love Language (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1hXDD7KPz7E85J3vttkiMH?si=KpWSXEmBTvSCGn-spXQ0ag&pi=u-2mMH5U-PSPOA&nd=1&dlsi=fcb48bbf22f34691)

Swapping mix tapes with friends was a window to the soul. I was the teenager cutting up magazines like I was drafting a ransom note, transforming them into cover art. Ready to launch myself across the bed at a moment’s notice in case the radio dj finally played that song.

When digital music was introduced I remember feeling joy, but also overwhelm. Playlists were no longer limited to 18-22 songs. What about the arc? The mood? I found myself coming up with themes just to maintain integrity.

That's when I came up with story playlists.
Today I made one for us. :)

I’m a little rusty, but the nostalgia and sheer joy of 10 years(!) eclipses any concern that this playlist will be cringe-inducing in another 10 years (or 10 minutes). Scroll on down and take a look at the L&G retrospective.

Like all the mixes that came before it, I hope this:

sparks a vibe
gets you through a tough time
generates a sweat
inspires you
leaves you grinning from ear to ear

Thanks for being here. xo Rachel

10 Years of Being Luminous & Grounded (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1hXDD7KPz7E85J3vttkiMH?si=KpWSXEmBTvSCGn-spXQ0ag&pi=u-2mMH5U-PSPOA&nd=1&dlsi=fcb48bbf22f34691)

Looking Back

In engineering school You Learn to make things more efficient. My specialty was buildings, but I found myself asking how to turn my body into a well-oiled Machine. Headed to the store for produce and probiotics, I was sick of being sick. I wanted my body to feel like Home again. Did I have to Change everything? Answer: I needed a complete audit to Wake Me Up.

After a couple years my health was More or less situated. It was time to Share That Love for health and nutrition. Food journals and meal plans. Supplements and sleep hygiene. I was a food-focused Cheerleader. Gluten-free substitutes and everything Coconut. Avoid Sugar. Dark Chocolate is okay. Eat your veggies. Use herbs and spices. That includes Green Onions. If they’re fermented, even better. Raise Your Glass of kombucha and say, “Cheers!”

Then there were the oils. Not sure if I Found You or you found me, but some of us met when I was teaching weekly essential oil classes. Diffusers leaving us all in a Lavender Haze. Then we had a pandemic. Aromatherapy education over Zoom seemed like Virtual Insanity if you asked me. We had thyme and time, but No Time together.

In isolated Times Like These I was grateful to have a dog. She became the Luminous & Grounded mascot. I Can’t Be Happier that so many of you effortlessly fell in love with Haruko. She Talks To Angels, that one. If I didn’t bring my ‘A’ game she was all, “Here, I’ll Fix You!” She tilted my beliefs on their side, and if you ask me 'til the day I die, if that dog had a Connection with (loving, good-natured) Spirits… 100%. I Won’t ever understand it, but I know what I witnessed Over and Over.

It’s tough to reflect on the last 10 years without mentioning what’s Toxic. For some it’s gluten and glyphosate. Or pollen and dust. Mold is a Beast of Burden, for sure. EMF used to be a band, not a health concern. But you know which toxin sticks out the most? Negative self image. When someone says “I don’t know how to Love Myself,” or “I don’t know what’s in the way of being Happy.” :(

First, I wish you could See Yourself In My Eyes. Second, Applause. You showed up and said “This Must Be the Place.” A place of Healing. I Ain’t Worried at that point. You Get What You Give, and you’re saying, “I Am Here, ready to put in my Heart and Soul.” This Is Me saying “Let’s Go!”

Now in the tenth year I do Emotion Code and Body Code 80% of the time. You got me over the hump of working every evening and weekend. Thank You. I am so, so grateful for everyone who Breathed life into Luminous and Grounded these last ten years. Glowing while you still have your feet on the ground is a balancing act. I Go Back to how lucky I am to have a job I look forward to every single day. Undoubtedly Life Is Better With You, my clients, colleagues and friends. From Now On let’s chase Dreams together. These Are Days I look forward to. The Lovely Days ahead.

And now... I Wanna Dance with Somebody! Time to Celebrate. Conga. Vogue. Party Rock. Whatever gives you that Electric Feel. Music is the best illustration of how frequencies makes us feel. Choose songs that make you smile. Because You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile! 🥳
