Thank you for spotlighting me! I am so honored to serve a wonderful community like Falls City 😊
This member spotlight features Tracy L O'Brien, LMT, LE, LPN, who operates out of the Falls City Fitness Center at 1723 Stone Street!
Q: Can you tell us a little about your business and what services your provide?
A: I have 3 Licenses: Massage Therapist, Skin Aesthetician & Practical Nurse. I have been a massage therapist for 26 years where I learned many different modalities of massage. With every client I customize my massages per what they need/want/or pain issues. With massage I use hot rocks, cupping, myofascial release, reflexology, deep tissue, lymphatic drainage, neuromuscular, natural reset therapy, and Reiki. While working at the Falls City Fitness Center for 22 years, I have worked alongside PT's, PTA's, OT's, and personal trainers. I have helped many clients before, after and during their rehabilitation process, as well as with palliative care. I have been a Skin Aesthetician for 18 years and my key services include DMK-MD skin revision treatments, that targets the root cause of skin conditions. I also do mechanical exfoliating treatments such as microneedling with radiofrequency, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, Skin Revision chemical peels, waxing and rub on tans.
Q: What inspired you to start in this field?
A: My inspiration to be a Massage Therapist started when I saw an advertisement on the TV for Omaha School of Massage, at the age of 28. I had some small health concerns in my early 20's that led me to try more holistic and non-pharmaceutical based therapies. When I saw the advertisement on TV, I took down the number, and said "I think I should do this". I wanted to offer a more holistic, natural approach to healthcare, pain and stress reduction. My want to be an Esthetician started when I worked in a Med Spa in Hiawatha and the Esthetician there was moving away. I wanted to be a nurse all my life but after graduation I took another avenue. When my Mother had cancer in 2002, one of the first LPN classes from Southeast Community College in Falls City came through. My mother expressed that she had always wished I had become a nurse. I promised her I would pursue nursing and in 2012 I became an LPN. I feel as though the "God Winks" I had in life lead me to my professions.
Q: Are there any new skincare treatments you’re excited about?
A: My most exciting high end treatment that I have been offering for 4 years is the DMK-MD Skin Revision treatment called StemZyme. This is a highly specific 50+day age management treatment that reduces the effects of impaired stem cell function. This skincare treatment uses stem cell technology and enzyme therapy to improve the appearance of aging skin, face and body. It is a non-invasive treatment that uses botanical ingredients to stimulate the skin's own stem cells through professional treatments and an at home prescription regimen. I am the first DMK-MD paramedical and pre-paramedical Aesthetician in the state of Nebraska.
Q: What’s are some skincare myths you wish people would stop believing?
A: The first myth is that over the counter products and cosmetics are better or as good as professional. When in doubt, Google ingredients! Secondly, a face wash does not determine your outcome with skin issues. A face wash is very specific; it washes your face. It cannot treat acne, dryness, etc. It doesn't stay on the skin therefore other serums/creams are needed for a specific outcome. Thirdly, one facial or skincare treatment is never going to completely fix or help any skin concern. It is a process. It didn't take one day to get any skin concern, so please don't expect one treatment to do the job. Combining good home care products and skin treatments, patience and dedication is the key.
Q: What does your self-care regimen include?
A: One of the most important & beneficial for me, physically and mentally, is some sort of exercise. Staying fit is not only good for my health, it helps in sustaining my career as a massage therapist. I have also learned many ways to help ailments with supplements and IV therapy, in addition to healthy eating habits. I also practice what I preach! I use all of my products and have done every treatment I offer, so at the age of 55, I can attest to what helps skin and what doesn't.
Q: If you could give your younger self one skincare tip, what would it be?
A: It would be NO PICKING your face! I had acne as a teenager and young adult. Now I am revising the scars I have obtained due to that picking.
