One way to stim is through feeling textures in your mouth. Sometimes we really need something crunchy or crispy, burnt, mushy or liquified and that’s OK! Letting your desire for a certain food textures though doesn’t mean you have to make less healthy choices. Instead of chips try popcorn or snap peas for that crunch. Instead of ice cream try Greek yogurt for that creamy smooth fix. What’s your favorite way to make your textures healthy?

Making decisions is hard and some days making food decisions is even harder. Strategies to deal with this:

1. Meal plan on a day when you have the time and energy and put it on autopilot the rest of the week
2. Source out the decision to someone you trust (the “I’ll get what they are getting” move)
3. Create a list of go to options for all the places you frequent to keep on your phone or person and pick one at random

Change is really hard and the “safety” of eating the same foods over and over again can be a hard thing to leave behind, even just for one meal or snack. If you find it hard to try new foods know you’re not alone and changes can be made as slowly as you need them to be. 💛

You now have healthy dinners for a whole week! Use that hyper fixation as a super power not a disadvantage! You can do it!

Grocery stores are extremely over stimulating plus it’s another task you have to plan and execute. If all you had to do was plan do you think you’d get groceries from the store and not take out more often? Think of it as the takeout of fresh foods!
