Japanese Knotw**d 🌿
A plant spirit I am very familiar with. About a year and a half ago I was bitten by a tick and diagnosed with Lyme disease. A few weeks later, my doctor prescribed me with antibiotics for 4 weeks. I took them and they helped! As I suspected they would. My doctor did say that I may have lingering side effects from the Borrelia Burgdorferi bacteria because the antibiotics are not meant to treat long term, and that they could not provide me with more without compromising other areas of my body. He was right. While I finished my treatments I still didn't feel good. I was having consistent symptoms and felt like my head was going to explode from the pain. I began to search for herbal remedies to sooth the symptoms I was feeling. I didn't find much study on any plants in the treatment of Lyme disease, except one, Japanese knotw**d.
I've spoken before how in my craft I have often come across plants that present themselves. Plants I never noticed before out always coincide with something I may have been experiencing, or may aid in whatever is happening. Knotw**d was one of them. I began taking Japanese knot w**d supplements in the form of a powder daily with the okay from my doctor, and today I can say my Lyme disease is in remission. Not only that, I found at that time that this plant grows abundantly in my own back yard! We know eachother well, and I am ever so thankful for this plants healing in my life.
This post is not to tell you what to take or how to take it. I worked with my physician entirely when working with this plant and I suggest the same! However, I did want to highlight this beauty and how much this plant has changed my life.
The bees also love to turn to knotw**d in the early autumn when blooms are present. Especially when most plants have ceased their blooms. The blooms provide a potent nectar to prepare for winters arrival. It also produces a lovely flavored honey 🍯
