In September, the Litchfield Fair hosted their first ever Deaf & Hard of Hearing Family Fun Day in collaboration with the fabulous Megan Garrity of MECDHH and Amber Woodcock (now Parsons) of Maine Hands & Voices. They have won an award for the event!!! ♥️🙌🏼
The Litchfield Fair has won an award for new agricultural educational events in Division 1 (fairs with under 100,000 attendees per year) from the IAFE (International Association of Fairs and Expositions) for our “Deaf and Hard of Hearing Family Fun Day,” which was created by partnering with MECDHH and Maine Hands & Voices.
The Litchfield Farmers’ Club would like to offer sincere gratitude and appreciation to the amazing and incredibly busy Megan Garrity, from Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MECDHH), and Amber Parsons, the fun and fantastic president of Maine Hands & Voices. They both went above and beyond to turn a simple idea by Fair Director Amanda Wade Smith into something extraordinary for our community. Thank you to MECDHH and Maine Hands & Voices for their dedication to the deaf community and to creating events connecting families with opportunities throughout the year, all across the state of Maine.
The Litchfield Farmers’ Club would also like to thank the greater Litchfield community and all our wonderful Directors, amazing volunteers and extremely generous sponsors who make the Litchfield Fair, all our projects, programs and the Litchfield Fair itself possible. Thank you.
A list of our Sponsors can be found at https://litchfieldfair.com/pages/display/our-sponsors and we are continually updating this list throughout the year.
Amanda would also like to extend appreciation to the Maine Association of Agricultural Fairs (MAAF), MAAF Foundation, as well as Barry and Junia Norris and the LFC Officers and Directors for the encouragement and support to find the courage and follow-through to make her idea a reality. To Dave, Davey and Daisy, for understanding the time the Fair takes, and to Daisy for the idea itself.
See you in September, the weekend after Labor Day!
